Re: Traction Control - Clicking Sound

I dont want to be leading you off track here, but the way I understand it, both rear wheels are driven. You are saying that only one rear wheel was TURNING? I can see a rear wheel with a bald tire spinning, while the other one is slowing turning with tread and traction. I doubt ABS has anything to d...

Re: Traction Control - Clicking Sound

Traction control also known as on demand AWD, will allow both rear wheels to be driven via the driveshaft when the front wheel speed sensors notice a front wheel is spinning. Clicking noise I dont know about. Check the rubber boots over the front CVT joints for tears, a dry, bad CVT joint will click...

Has anyone used a OBDII scanner auto bleed air out of the ABS module?

My Freestyle has a soft brake pedal again, even after having the brake lines bled 6 months ago. Im sure there is air mainly in the ABS module, because when we had icy streets I was able to get the brake pedal high and hard again by slamming on the brakes while on ice, getting the ABS to kick in whic...

Re: Steering wheel shakes while braking

I checked the rotors this morning to see if I could any indication that the brake pads left a dark spot on the rotor(s), from me sitting with my foot on the brake pedal waiting for the green light again, making the pads sit on extremely hot (red?) rotors. I read that pad material can get soft to put...

Steering wheel shakes while braking

2007 AWD 147,000 Its more noticeable when I brake from 45mph or faster, I feel a vibration, and can feel/see the steering wheel shake. I never noticed the wheel shaking when braking until after I had to make a panic stop from 75mph to 0. EDIT: Narrowed it down to rotors being warped from that panic ...

Re: HOW TO: Add a cabin air filter (EASY)

Good refresher "how to" post, pictures are helpful. I did mine years ago. Wasted money on a charcoal cabin filter, didnt help stop unwanted outdoor odors, so I stick with the plain filters now. I used the "hinge: method of leaving a flap, plastic cut except the left side, leaving that as a 'hinge', ...

Re: Is it necessary to change the filter with CVT fluid change?

Freeforever, yes, some fluid stays. If thats a concern, then do a fluid and HP filter change, and then do another fluid change in a month, to get out what old fluid has mixed with the first new batch. Really not been shown to be a transmisson ending problem to leave the 3+ quarts in that stays, when...

Re: 2006 Freestyle for parts

After repair, today or a year from now, a dealer would give you $1500 trade-in value, and then he would send it to auto auction. $3000 for a 13 year old vehicle seems like a lot to put into this vehicle, unless you really cant find anything else you like better than this exact vehicle. I would think...

Re: Exterior light issues

Once a year, my blinkers blink fast and my key fobs wont lock/unlock the doors. Lasts for a day, and next morning everything works again. I know Im not alone, in seeing this temporary problem. Some reports on the internet of the use of non Ford branded alternators can cause problems. The PCM expects...

Re: Rear wiper arm repair

Yes, possibility. Per the Ford Workshop Manual, there is a cover on the end of the wiper arm that is farthest away from the rubber blade end, that covers the nut that holds the arm to the "post". The 'post' is the shaft that turns back and forth, and moves the wiper arm. You will need to flip this c...

Re: Dash Cluster stuck

On a working cluster, this is the method for resetting oil life. http://resetservicelight.com/reset-oil-service-light-ford-freestyle/ Ive never had my cluster out, but there are threads in this forum about trouble with dash clusters, some have removed their clusters, and you may see if there is a ri...

Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle limited slipping acceleration issue

Stormyme, the bluetooth devices like Bluedriver and FIXD use an app on your phone to give you the info. Ones like the x431 have the software in the unit and you read the info on the reader screen. So in that way they are not the same. A caution about the Bluetooth units that you plug into the OBDII ...

Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle limited slipping acceleration issue

There are code readers that only give you DTC's, and the ability to reset almost all of them. As the price goes up you can buy readers that will give you a short pre-stored explaination of what each fault code you get could mean, (that info is also easily found on the internet), and top of the line ...
