Thanks for posting the TSB and all of this valuable information.

The diagnostic flow charts at Xemodex are also helpful, I've used them successfully in the past to help rule out some Haldex issues.

Re: LEAKY SUNROOF DRAINS.

Line from a string trimmer (0.095" is what I have) works well for feeding through the drain tubes, I've cleaned mine several times.

Totaled Freestyle and still driving it every day

2005 Freestyle, 225,000 miles https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=DBE71524ED69A4FD!290&authkey=!ACCfcWY6QyCWC7w&ithint=folder%2cjpg My son got rear ended on an interstate by a 2dr Ford Focus. The Focus mostly slid under the Freestyle. The Freestyle was totaled by the Focus owners insurance (Libert...

Re: 05 Freestyle - P0303 and P0401

My first choice is that the "afterburner" catalytic converter is clogged or severely restricted. This is the cat just in front of the muffler. All signs point to this: high mileage, cylinder 3 trouble (next to egr), and egr trouble (first component in line to increased back pressure). Drop the the p...

Re: 2005 AWD, CVT ~ My drive ability Issues finally SOLVED

I simply knocked out all of the clogged honeycomb/substrate and put it back on the car. The car sounds different but no CEL and that was over 100,000 miles ago. Current mileage is about 230,000.

I would guess a wheel bearing. Both of mine have been replaced and the symptoms were as you describe.

Re: 2005 freestyle lost power and no indicators in dash...

We had exact symptoms around the same miles...it was a clogged cat....the one in front of the muffler. To confirm diagnosis i unhooked exhaust pipe in front of the cat (let it hang) and it ran fine when accelerating, though very loud. Because of the back pressure my egr got fried and a hole melted t...

Re: ac hell

The fans must come out. Also best for two people...one on top and one on bottom as you line up the new unit. You will also have to move several radiator hoses aside. Rent or buy a belt remval tool as you have no room for standard tools to get the belt loose.

Re: A/C compressor leaking on our "new" Freestyle FWD

Our 2005 leaked through the scroll valve. Replacing the valve did provide a fix though the following year the compressor seized and had to be replaced.

Re: stumbling with multiple codes

304 is a very specific code. Try swapping the coil on cylinder 4 with cylinder 5 and see if the code follows (305) then you will know for sure.

Re: Hit 200,000 miles this week

Major repairs: ac compressor, starter, egr valve, intake manifold and the oem cat did fail. The blocked cat is what caused the egr to fail and the intake to melt.

Hit 200,000 miles this week

2005 AWD Limited - hit 200,000 miles while on a 1200 mile round trip this week. No current problems. Planning a few maintenance duties such as plugs, cvt fluid change and coolant change. Great car for us and is getting ready to get passed to its second kid driver this spring.

Since this topic has come up again, I do have pics but no descriptions. You've got a nice description but no pics. I did mine like Shadetree2011 and just pushed down on the knuckle until the strut cleared. Start at pic #23 for strut replacement. I also replaced the top mounts. Agreed on big improvem...

Re: How to swap out EGR valve?

removing the roll resistor is a big help as well, it will free up a lot of working room...you could also remove the intake (with EGR attached) then easily remove the EGR)
