Re: A/C Compressor going bad

i'll give you my opinion as I am not a mechanic but I have replaced nearly my entire a/c system. I have a 2005 AWD ltd with rear air so this may or may not apply to your car. If the compressor failed and there are small metal bits floating around your system, more pieces probably need to be replaced...

Re: 05 FS no acceleration, no codes and no engine lights

it could be a fouled cat, bad O2 sensor or a few other things. if you have a scanner with graphing it's easy to check the switching rates of the sensors. Most people dont have a scanner. You could switch downstream O2 sensors from bank 1 to bank 2 and see if the code follows to bank 2. If it does th...

Re: 05 Freestyle Front Struts

The clunk is usually associated with end link wear or damage. The end links are a much simpler and quicker fix than the struts and mounts. You could try to replace the links first to see if that fixes your problem.

Re: power window switches probem

sounds like the lock out switch is active but if the windows each open with their own switch then that would be ruled out. the switch panel is easy to lift/pry out. maybe give the wire harness a push and wiggle. beyond that, test the switch and if needed replace. it is a bit pricey at $50 or so at r...

Re: 05 FS no acceleration, no codes and no engine lights

it wil be the cat under the car that is clogged, not the cats off the headers. Some guys call this the 'afterburner' as it provides a final clean for any possible remaining pollutants. A simple but noisy test is to disconnct the exhaust just in front of the cat. If it now runs ok, then you know for ...

Re: PCM pinout

P0403 is the code I had, it was a short to ground of the EGR System Module (ESM) to the PCM. The EGR Vacuum Regulator (EVR) is PCM pin E6. The pinpoint test mine failed was (+) PCM connector, harness side EVR and (-) to ground shoud be greater than 10K ohms. Or you could jump the wire to see if that...

Re: Not accelerating

This can be 'fixed' by knocking out all of the honeycomb substrate from the catalytic converter. The one blocked is the converter just in front of the muffler, under the car, not the ones off the exhaust header. It can be removed fairly easily for 'cleaning', reinstall and off you go. There is a sim...

Re: 2005 freestyle won't start

We struggled with intermittent no starts due to a repeated starter fuse blowing (I don't remember the fuse # but it is in the box under drivers side dash). You may also try to jump start the car just to be certain the system has enough voltage for a start. Even though your battery is good, it may be...

Re: computer

It is accessed under the hood, beneath the cowl. To get the cowl off you remove the wipers and 4 clips then it lifts off. It is fitted fairly tightly against the base of the windshield trim and peels out sort of like a plastic zip lock seal. If you buy your own used ecu off e-bay or junk yard, you'l...

Re: Power Steering leaking

PS fluid reservoir tank overflow was the first symptom I noticed when the serpentine belt broke (a/c compressor locked up). I did not know what was going on , there was PS fluid everywhere! Luckily the car was in the driveway when it all happened and not on the road. The pressure must rocket up once...
