Re: HELP, codes and the Freestyle is running funny

The accelerator pedal position sensor is not the same part as the throttle body. The gas pedal of the freestyle unplugs electrically as a unit. The pedal itself contains the position sensor. The throttle body has throttle position sensor, two different items. I found a used throttle body from an '06...

You have to register to see the pictures. Check the written procedure with the pictures and you should be able to tell if you are up for the job.

Re: HELP, codes and the Freestyle is running funny

Your finger is pointed to a coolant hose connection. The 'water' you saw should have been green coolant. The tube you see in the bottom pic is from the EGR valve. Cleaning is good but I don't believe that is causing your code. I would double check that you had the throttle body plugged in properly a...

Re: Instrument Cluster Conumdrum

Could it have to do with the odometer? Maybe Ford has to have the cluster back to ensure that someone else won't swap out a higer mile for a lower mile?

Re: Changing the Fuel filter

Filter is just under the rear passenger door/seat. Be careful with the clips, they can break easily. It may help to get a removal tool from the auto parts store. Also remember the fuel system is under pressure. Remove the fuel pump relay and run the car until it dies. Be sure to let the car cool bef...

Re: CVT fluids changed

The fluid level can be checked at operating temperature (190F to 198F). Maybe that's what he meant by checking temp. Or maybe he checked that it was not running hot (cooler was working)? Check fluid on level surface, engine at idle, move through gears then to park (just like auto trans). The minimal...

Re: undercarriage noise

Do the 'bounce' test for your struts/shocks. The noise you describe sounds like mine did-only over bumps, no noises in turns. The problem was a shock that was totally shot - it had lost its pressure and the driver side was riding on spring olnly. Replaced both strut assemblies and strut mounts. Trem...

Rear plug replacement, intake removal and much more

I don't normally like to cross post but this was just too much for me to post here. See this link http://www.ford-forums.com/ford-freestyle/43443-rear-plugs-pics-much-more.html for a write up with pictures. You have to sign in to see the pictures. This is a fairly common question and I wanted to sha...

Re: Vacuum leak, no power - need some help

I am awaiting a new intake manifold but in the meantime I have it patched and want to test the fuel pressure. Where do I hook this thing up to read fuel pressure? I can't seem to find an exact description. Generally I find intructions to hook it up to the schrader valve on the end of the fuel rail. ...

Vacuum leak, no power - need some help

2005 AWD Limited 120K This is the first time the car 'broke down' and had to be towed. The car was running great as usual, highway speed and just slowly started losing power. No noises, no check engine light, no wrench etc. It just would not go over 5 to 10 mph with the pedal to the floor. I limped ...

I would replace them. Mine were dry with a white 'crust/residue'. This is a very simple step and also eases in removal and replacement of the filter cover. Be sure to lube the new ones with fresh CVT fluid...dmc

Re: Best type of oil

I change the oil myself and use full synthetic from Wal-Mart, either Valvoline, Penzoil or Mobil One whichever is cheapest at the time. All come in a 5qt jug for about $20. Add a filter for $5 and you have a full synthetic oil change for $25. I go 5,000 miles and the oil is still very clear and ligh...

Re: question regarding changing plugs .....

Agree with above. For sure change all the spark plug coils. I did the reverse, I had a rear coil fail and decided to change the plugs and the remaining coils while the intake was off. I too cleaned the throttle body while it was off. It seems I had to unhook the fuel line from the fuel rail (well I ...
