Re: car stalls when put in drive
Does the car run fine once it is 'over' the initial dying? A vacuum leak or hole in the intake area could cause this but would also cause ongoing driveability problems. Restricted exhaust/clogged catalytic converter can cause this as well but again I believe you would experience overall, noticeable ...

Re: 2008 Taurus X stalling
Give us some more details. Stalling at low speeds while turning is a good clue. Does the car die or just sputter? Does it restart easily? The more details you supply, the better chance someone has of helping diagnose.

Re: DTC 0701 Transmission Control System Range/Performance
both the P0871 and the P0961 deal with a defective pressure sensor or a leakage of the hydraulic system. Nearly every pinpoint test refers to the installation of a new mechatronic assembly (from 2006 workshop manual volume 2, freestyle, five hundred, montego). the P0701 just refers to the two codes ...

Re: Getting used to CVT?
It does seem a bit of a quirk with the CVT and no shifting...at first. I am used to it after 2.5 years of constant driving. The engine noise on hard acceleration is just about my only complaint with the car and I would call it a minor complaint. I actually like how the CVT handles hills. You can tak...

Re: Is there a page with the vehicle operating norms?
I'll start with a first response and say what everyone is thinking....WTF? I don't know of any car that idles that high and mine cruising at 70mph runs about 2100-2200rpm. I am not sure if I have even had mine to 5000 rpm when passing with a leadfoot. NOT RIGHT. Sorry I don't have the exact numbers ...

Power door lock replacement, access power window + more!
I just posted a video showing door lock actuator replacement. You will access many other door parts such as: speaker, window and window motor, door handle and others. See the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYK096r1aag I have not added narration yet but the video is still very helpful for...

Re: Haldex Filter pics
I'll add my 2 cents here. I just got done changing the Haldex fluid and filter. My filter did not have the 'sludge' you see in the pics above. The fluid in the filter areas was gray/light black but is was smooth (if that makes sense) and free flowing. Changing the filter was relatively easy. I had d...

Re: New tires for my Freestyle...
I have about 25,000 miles on Michelin MXV's for my '05 AWD limited and they have been great, no regrets. I have rotated them twice and they look and feel new. Quiet and smooth with confidence on wet roads.

Re: Whirring Sound From Transmission
Whoa! That does not sound like mine at all. I honestly don't hear the cvt on mine, I hear only exhaust notes/noise under acceleration. A wheel bearing would not noise up and down with engine rpm, only wheel spin. A bearing in the CVT? who knows for sure. Hopefully someone can help. Don't forget to t...

Re: Clunking Noise from underneath 05 FS
I'll throw in a broken strut. The strut lost its charge and the driver front was riding only on the spring. Mine was at about 75,000 miles. Very annoying. A clunk over every single bump big and small!

Re: Failsafe mode, or I really hate Ford!
Try car-part.com . They put you in touch with parts recyclers (junk yards) who have the part you need. I got a throttle body off of a 2006 Montego for my 2005 Freestyle. Works fine. I just searched and they show over 50 throttle bodies available starting at $75 US. e-bay has them on a regular basis ...

Re: Front strut mount noise 06 Freestyle FWD
I replaced struts on my '05 at about 78,000 miles. My right strut was actually broken, meaning it had lost its hydraulic charge. The driver front was riding on the spring only. It was a huge improvement in ride, handling and got rid of the clunk I was having over every single bump no matter the size...
