Re: I just got a new to me Freestyle

When the temps started dropping, I noticed a pull and a drop in mileage. Checking and correcting tire pressure took care of that. Also, got absolutely awesome mileage with the cruise set smack on 70 mph, just a shade under 2000 rpms. Best was 28.5 mpg on a 160 mile highway trip. But then, my 'Style ...

Re: Gas Cap - COME ONE FORD

After reading this thread, today I discovered the small hook that jay did on the inside of the gas cover. Had no problem setting the cap lip over the hook while filling up.

Re: Ford killing Freestyle/Taurus X

The kids had an Explorer when they first got married, when gas was cheap. They did get a good end-of-model-year deal, and have to commute front the country (hence the 4X4). They still have an older Windstar and insist that they need the wide back seat for the three small children and the cargo space...

Re: Super vs. Regular

Gettng 23-25 mixed and 26-28+ highway on 89 octane ethanol (about 30 cents a gallon cheaper in nearby Iowa than Ill-noise), I'll stick with what works for me. :D

Re: Ford killing Freestyle/Taurus X

Our daughter and son-in-law just bought a 2008 Explorer 4X4. Silver exterior with REALLY sharp black/taupe interior. I envy them for that interior but certainly not the 18 mpg highway rating. With three kids and a big dog, it's a good thing they both have good jobs.

Re: Ford killing Freestyle/Taurus X

Phrases come to mind: Run it up the flagpole, see if anyone salutes it; Throw ideas against the wall, see if anything sticks; "self-fulfilling prophecy". Personally, I think that the replacement of the proven, (slightly more) fuel-efficient 3.0 liter Duratec V-6 with the heavier, noisier 3.5 liter w...

Re: Scared about Vehicle

In my opinion, Ford wound up in red ink not because of deficient product, but because it misread or ignored the wants and needs of it's most loyal customers. My wife and I became Ford people when we fell in love with our 1989 Ford Probe (discontinued). Laugh if you want, but my wife also loved her 1...

Re: 2007 Ford Freestyle Information Added

You might want to modify the warranty info to include the 5 year/60,000 miles on engine and drivetrain on 2007 models. 8)

Re: CANNOT get over station wagon exterior!!

Personally, the Freestyle looks more like an SUV than a station wagon (thinking of the past Taurus wagons). But my mpg is much better than an Explorer and I have much more interior seating and room than an Escape. The final point in the 'Style's favor is that it is NOT a minivan. :D

Re: Very pleased with our vacation MPG!

Have made three round-trips of 300 miles + each over the past two months. Got 26.5 to 28.5 on the interstate, holding speed to 70 mph at approximately 2000 rpm. Add in city driving, the 'Style gets 24 mpg. Our old 2002 Taurus (also with a 3.0 Duratec) got an average of 25 mpg after a $400 tune-up la...

Re: Super vs. Regular

This past weekend, took my 'Style on it's second extended (300+ mile) road trip. First one, into Chicago, averaged about 26 mpg mixed city/highway on 89 octane 10% ethanol fuel. This trip, same fuel, averaged closer to 27 mpg, including a 160 mile stretch (mostly on I-80) getting 28.5 mpg! I'll stic...

 Didn't mean to start an energy war. Just thought it would be nice, given the opportunity, to pay $15 to $20 less to fill up my 'Style. :?

Re: Why No More Ford FFV?

Everyone's passion is appreciated. However, the point that I tried to make was this: This country is deeply mired in a critical energy and economic crisis. To get and keep this country moving again (literally), and given that this nation moves overwhelmingly under the power of the internal combustio...
