Re: Brand New (to me) TaurusX Eddie Bauer AWD w/ 162k miles

Thanks for the info (and positive comments). I had a feeling about the heating element. :( I can't release the drivers side 2nd row seat either.... so I have some work to do this weekend. As for condition, it was garaged here (in the rust belt country), so the undercarriage has no rust which blew me...

Re: Brand New (to me) TaurusX Eddie Bauer AWD w/ 162k miles

So, I am hoping others will chime in regarding the condition (I bought it for $5,650.00 plus tax, title, registration, and doc fees). It literally past muster with my mechanic (he definitely can work on it for any future rebuilds as it is the 6 Speed tranny), it has NAV with Sync1, Moonroof, Power l...

Brand New (to me) TaurusX Eddie Bauer AWD w/ 162k miles

I just purchased this 2008 Ford TaurusX AWD "Eddie Bauer" at Wickstrom Ford in Barrington, IL. It has a little over 162,000 miles. It drives literally like a used car with 30,000 miles. Brand new Pirelli P6 'plus" tires are on the chrome rims. Just about every option available with the car. Below ar...

Re: An interesting transmission problem - opinions please...

Well, my Freestyle will be going in to the Classified Section. I went out and bought a Taurus X "Eddie Bauer" AWD edition from Wickstrom Ford in Barrington, IL. It's one owner, it has 162,000 "gentle" miles, and I purchased it for $5,650.00 (plus tax, license, and doc fees). I will go to the welcome...

Re: An interesting transmission problem - opinions please...

I've been sitting on this for a week (deciding if it is cheaper to buy a decent Freestyle for around $3k or spending the $2,650 on this one). Still "on hold" for the moment. I've been reading the 6 sp swap thread, but that takes a junk yard five hundred to pull off (and my local mechanic isn't going...

Re: An interesting transmission problem - opinions please...

So, how does the car look regarding the pictures? Especially considering it is an Wisconsin vehicle.

Re: An interesting transmission problem - opinions please...

I'm selling my 2004 Chrysler Sebring Convertible to make this happen, so I am going "all in" (I'm selling it for $2,600.00 with someone definitely interested - so it should sell for close to that). I went to Aamco this afternoon and looked at the fluid (bright red, unbelievable) and saw the shavings...

Re: An interesting transmission problem - opinions please...

FYI - I appreciate the input. Please keep it coming. I'm pretty good with a wrench and basic repair, tranny's I've always gotten lucky with and have never had to replace (so this is a new experience for me). So in my 53 years and over 20 vehicles procured since I was 14 - this is the first one I've ...

Re: An interesting transmission problem - opinions please...

I mis-spoke, didn't mean to imply the pump was the torque converter. The car itself is in beautiful shape (as can be seen in the pics)... so that is what drew me to it..... fixed income or otherwise. I knew I was looking at least at 2k to replace a tranny with a used one. I didn't realize there was ...
