I really need help! I thought that I connected the starter wrong. I totally forgot the way the cables go connected. But if that would of been the case it wouldn't make the sound like if had a drained battery right?

Re: CVT Closed Unit?

Hello there, I have a little problem with my 07 FS. Removed my transmission. To check the bearings, and sure one of the bearings was bad. So I replaced it, now that I put it back my SF won't start. Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong please.... Almost sounds like your vehicle is not sensing t...

Re: CVT Closed Unit?

broken. all 9 If those are the ones with the Phillips screw head in the middle, those are called "scrivets". I hate them madly, but there is a trick to getting them out. Check youtube and it will show you if you search on "scrivets". Yep. Those are the ones. You can't unscrew them apparently. I was...

Why do you need new clips? Just use the original ones.

Re: CVT Closed Unit?

Done! Hopefully I added back the right amount. Called the dealership to let them know I did what they told me is not a serviceable item. Now I need to find 9 of those plastic clips to put the wheel well shroud back on!

Re: CVT Closed Unit?

And PS...always have the motor running when using the dipstick so you don't get a false reading. Yes. It also states to go through all the gear positions and then into Park before checking. So I'm going to have to run this anyway after removing the air intake/box and disconnecting the MAF sensor. H...

Re: CVT Closed Unit?

You aren't "assuming" anything. There is a dipstick. There is a 'cold' level mark and a 'hot' level mark. You want to know cold level, NOT hot. When refilling, the fluid is cold. Unless the CVT is leaking from the pan, it IS a "sealed" unit, so to speak, and the p.o couldn't have maintained it any ...

Re: CVT Closed Unit?

Why are you concerned with temp??? Let the vehicle cool while on jack stands. Measure the fluid that comes out and replace with the same amount. Eazy-peazy. That is how I did mine. I mean, you aren't going to ONLY change the HP filter, are you? Drain the thing and do the job right with new fluid, o...

Re: CVT Closed Unit?

I'm getting ready to do the HP filter and fluid change on my daughter's 2005 FS Limited. Before I embark on this mystery tour, with all its 'warnings' and such, I'm checking and double-checking what I will have to do BEFORE I start tearing into this. If it isn't completely clear in my mind I won't s...

When doing the brakes, might as well change the brake fluid as well. That probably has never been changed either.
Oh yes. That's a given every time I do brakes and rotors.

Re: Driver's Side Rear Door Lock - Repaired!

The power steering will make noise when warm when low on fluid. And it doesn't have to be very low. Our fluid wasn't low. It was mud! It was right smack in the middle of those two lines. The previous owner probably never changed it. Another reason why I will be doing that HP Filter and CVT fluid ch...

Driver's Side Rear Door Lock - Repaired!

My list of items to fix on a 2005 Ford Freestyle Limited purchased a few weeks ago for my daughter continues to shrink. I've fixed the Air Conditioning by replacing the Scroll Valve. Did a complete fluid replacement for Power Steering that got rid of a noise when heated up. And today, fixed a door l...

Re: A/C Problems with 2005 Ford Freestyle: Everyone Please Read

I replaced the scroll valve 2 times and it works by few weeks, but the A/C guy indicated that the evaporator (under dash) needs to be replaced since that is leaking. Do you recommend to replace scroll valve and seal again? I don't know if the filter into the valve hole was replaced. I'm no expert, ...
