Re: How to replace a clockspring.

The hardest part of the job is releasing the air bag from the wheel. It has a big metal hoop-type clip you have to depress. Actually getting it to catch and hold on reassembly is harder than getting it to release. You really need a service manual to consult before you do this. Thank you Jas88, I wa...

Re: How to replace a clockspring.

Ok, so its not a later one made for India. I dont know of a Freestyle specific vid or write-up. Here is a generic one, disconnect the battery first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XB-qHTVWCSQ If it looks too different inside, watch out for the ignition cylinder clip location, maybe a local repair ...

How to replace a clockspring.

The ford dealer is very expensive. So, I am determined to replace the clockspring myself. I bought the part on ebay, could anyone share a diy on how to "replace steering wheel clockspring?" Thank you.

Re: vehicle jerks when slowing down to a stop.

So, I just went to Quicklane and after a detailed conversation with the mechanic the recommendation is to bring it to the Ford service center where I had the 120,000 miles fluid change. It was not a "jerk motion" but rather, when I am slowing down to stop I feel the transmission downshift which it d...

vehicle jerks when slowing down to a stop.

I have observed that my 06 FS started to jerk or do hiccups during slowing down to a stop, I had my transmission fluid replaced at the 120,000 miles mark at the dealer. It now has 132, 794 miles, did anybody had/has the same experience and what is the solution? Thank you!

Wheel Spacers.

Has anyone done a 2-inch wheel spacer on their Freestyle? I would like to see what it would look like with a 235/65/17. Thanks!

Re: 07 FWD 163K miles

I use Prestone Dot 3...but it makes no difference as long as it is Dot 3 and fresh, not sitting on a shelf in your garage for years...I forget the caliper...whatever Auto Zone had at the time that was cheap. Thank you! I think I am all set just as long as I don't forget about the "counterclockwise"...

Re: 07 FWD 163K miles

These are what I'm putting on...you WILL need the kit to turn the pistons back in (except for your new one that is already set) https://www.ebay.com/itm/ABN-Front-and-Rear-Caliper-Brake-Rewind-and-Piston-Compression-18-Piece-Tool-Kit/231569263505?epid=1611832954&hash=item35ea9a8b91:g:gQ4AAOSw1RVaXm...

Re: 07 FWD 163K miles

Easy peasy. I forgot. I changed out one rear caliper but only because I f'd up the original when screwing the piston back in. Go to Harbor Freight and but one of these: https://www.harborfreight.com/automotive-motorcycle/brakes/brake-fluid-bleeder-92924.html Then buy the caliper and put it on. Take...

Re: 07 FWD 163K miles

Battery, headlights, brake lights, front/rear brakes (getting ready to do the rear again, 1st time in 7 years), tires, struts, both front axles (just because), tune-up, CVT fluid changed twice, oil changes, starter, 1 rear wheel hub assembly. Off the top of my head, that is pretty much it. Paid $87...

Re: 07 FWD 163K miles

Could you please tell me what maintenance and parts your Freestyle has gone through the years? My friend at the dealer told me I am married to my 06 Freestyle!! I bought mine at $4000 last 2016. So, far I've spent $4000 plus on maintenance and parts. And I am only at 124,+++ miles.
