Re: Remove and replace Catalytic Converter

I'm having power issues. Disconnecting my rear cat made no difference. Did not know if the 2 front cats would cause the acceleration issues im having. What are your symptoms? Why are you replacing those cats? Thanks.

Re: 05 FS no acceleration, no codes and no engine lights

With manual and most automatic transmissions, you can tell if the trans is slipping by watching the tachometer rising and the speedometer staying the same, except that CVTs appear to be in a state of continuous slippage because of the varying ratios. If you are suffering from a lack of engine power...

Re: 05 FS no acceleration, no codes and no engine lights

mrdeeds, Got your email and read your post. If it's not throwing any codes, I don't know what to suggest. Anything from a clogged cat to possibly a binding brake(s) is possible. If the engine/trans had a significant problem, I think the computer would likely identify it. With as many miles as you h...

Re: 05 FS no acceleration, no codes and no engine lights

Also, today I noticed coasting down a hill near my house where I'm always going about 65mph by the bottom in every car I own, in the freestyle, I couldn't coast faster than 45mph. You could tell it was being held back by something. Just in case lights on dash might be burnt out (as recommended by Mi...

Re: 05 FS no acceleration, no codes and no engine lights

Have the same symptoms, only difference is I do not totally lose power, however, disconnecting the rear converter had no affect on increasing power. I still have poor acceleration/power. Worse at higher rpm. Level grade acceleration from stop is ok, not great but ok. Up hill I can just maintain spee...

Re: Haldex Filter pics

Just did the Haldex last night. Ordered the same parts as pictured above. I would agree with "dmckmc" and his experience. Ended up not changing the Haldex fluid, was still a light honey color not much difference with the new oil. The filter was dirty but no sludge just some black and gray oil...but ...

Re: AWD Maintence: Part 1

NOTE: I purchased the used PTU on Ebay, for shipping purposes the fluid has to be removed. Either because it will damage the vent/filter in the unit if it turned upside down or because of some regulation governing the shipment of petroleum products. I was not aware of this, but since i was going to ...

Re: AWD Maintence: Part 1

Was going to start a new topic but this one has been so informative i decided to add to it. So I purchased a 2005 freestyle, May of 2015. 251,179 miles on it from a local used car dealer that I've purchased from before. Previous 1 owner was in sales and drove this car all over the place, he actually...

Re: Swap 500 6 sp into Freestyle not possible.

Finally got to register my freestyle 6spd. Passed emissions. Still has the abs and traction light on though. My state doesnt care about this, though some might. This swap was easy to do. No fabrication, no real need for a parts ford 500. Hardest thing was getting use to fords, which i dont like wor...
