Re: 2006 freestyle with 87000 miles, WONT START

Sounds like you are having someone very unskilled working on your car. They are using the "TAP" method of diagnostics...TAP= Try Another Part.

There is no substitute for proper diagnostics. These seems like a shotgun approach and Id recommend going elsewhere.

Re: Bad Cluster or Speed Sensor Issue ?

Any warning lamps on? Did you check DTCs? If there are no DTCs and no warning lamps on for anything else. I would suggest using a good scan tool and monitoring TCM and ABS signals to compare the vehicle speed sensors in both systems. If all looks good, it might be the small stepper motor in the clus...

Re: need help! clicking noise 20 sec after start

First step is to pull diagnostic trouble codes from the vehicle. If you don't have a scan tool, go to your local autoparts store and buy the best one you can afford or take the care there to have them pull it. Ideally you need a scan tool that at the bare minimum can read I/M readiness codes and liv...

Re: 2006 freestyle with 87000 miles, WONT START

I suspect this is might misdiagnosis. Again I the first to NOT second guess a trained and certified professional technician who can lay hands on the car as I sit behind a keyboard. This could be an issue(s) with the Passive Anti-Theft ("PATS") key. Immobilizer keys like PATS, work through the transp...

Re: Welcome to the new 2019+ Ford Freestyle Forum

Wow I just looked at the India market Freestyle, I understand it is a local market car- but it is is horrid looking.

No association with the original whatsoever, just a reuse of a badge trademark that Ford doesn't want to release.

Re: Stripped oil pan 2005 Freestyle

Has anyone here had any luck with the Oil Pans that are listed on Rockauto.com for our cars? They run between $100-$240 (some come with gaskets and plugs, some not). I also have a stripped plug, and if the techniques above do not work, I'm going to just buy a new one. I'm reasonably confident that ...

Re: Rotors and pads recommendations?

X2 on the Motorcraft. I tend to always go OEM or Tier 1 replacement. I put motorcraft pads and rotors on my FS 10 months ago, the anti-rust coating on the hat of the rotors still looks like they got unboxed yesterday. I also found the price competitive off of Rockauto.com. I recently hung all motorc...

Re: AIR CONTROL VALVE( IAC)

X2, take the coolant bypass hoses off the t-body. If you are careful you can take the entire nipple out of the t-body by undoing the two T-20 (?) torx on the nipple and pull straight out, then take the tbody OFF and clean it with throttle clean, a few clean terry cloth towels and an old tooth brush....

Re: Should I buy?

X2 on what has been said. I own a late production 2007 Limited. It was a one owner, service regualrly including the trans at the dealer. I got it at 110K it has 167K on it now. All I have done are what I would call normal repairs and maintenance for a vehicle its age. Pads and rotors, struts at all ...

Re: Got a 2006 Freestyle

Looks good, there is a few posts on here about doing that swap. Easiest thing to do is find a wrecked or blown engine 500. You will need many items from the donor car.

Re: Front Subframe Hole

Yea I have a rot free car, and just found that the subframe as a small 2" by 1.5" area of rot right above the exhaust pipe. I am going to be doing an oil pan reseal soon. I plan on cutting out the area and making a plate repair. The rest of the frame is clean.

Re: Is the PTU a volvo bevel gear?

The rear axle and Haldex Unit are identical to P2 platform Volvos- circa 2004 ish to 2010ish.

The bevel gear or angle gear off the transaxle is NOT the same as any volvo.
