Re: P0420 code

These vehicles do take a long time to reach operating temp in winter. I find it best to let the engine reach full temp before driving.
The P0420 code is often gas cap/evaporative related.

Re: Tire Rotation on AWD 2005 Freestyle?

And one more complication ...... The most important tires on a 4 wheel vehicle from a safety stand point are the REAR TIRES. You have some control over the front wheels by means of the Steering Wheel. The rear wheels are reliant almost solely on the tire grip. All Wheel Drive and Traction Control he...

Re: Wrench light and P0701 code

The things I have noticed from other Posts is that it is critical you obtain your Pan Filter from Ford.
Generic Pan Filters have a habit of falling off and giving error codes.
Same applies for the Fluid. It is too critical to mess with !!!

Good luck and please let us know how things work out.

Re: Wrong transmission fluid

You may well have trashed your CVT ...... they are very sensitive to the wrong fluid getting into the system. You are going to need some luck ..... If you are going to attempt to replace the fluid thoroughly I would save some money by using Valvoline CVT fluid as a flushing agent. It is much cheaper...

Re: [walkthrough] How to replace an alternator on a Freestyle

This is in reply to arkansas.tom's great article ...... very informative. One thing though .... as our Freestyles devaluate and deteriorate how much do we invest in them? It seems there is an argument for fitting a good used Alternator instead of a cheap re-manufactured one. (Assuming you can be sur...

Re: Cargo Shelf or Cover

The notches were for an option called secure storage or something like that. Basically a few crate like containers that locked into a tray on the floor. I will try to find a pic ..... I have never seen a cargo shelf or cover for the Freestyle.

Yes ...the valve is easily accessible. The A/C system must first be evacuated before removing the cover and recharged afterwards.
