Re: Stripped oil pan 2005 Freestyle

As stated by others, you can re-thread the hole. You can also buy new drain plug bolts that have rubber seals on them from places like oreillys or napa. The rethread tools are cheap, less then $10 and the plugs are less then $5. You only need the one tap that fits the thread of the new bolt. You don...

Re: No crank, no start problem

I should have listened to knowitall on this one. 3 dealers that have mechanics that can't figure out the problem. Was working on this car over a year. The first two dealers were oil change shops. Called Ford and they told me who their electrical specialist dealer in my area was. That dealer after th...

Re: [walkthrough] How to replace an alternator on a Freestyle

Sorry for the late reply, I don't get on this forum often. You do not have to remove or loosen the shaft. Shops will tell you anything to make money, and most charge book rate and not actual time. A good mechanic with experience can remove it quickly. You should be able to figure it out yourself, ju...

can bus wiring diagram?

2005 fwd Freestyle. Know of a wiring diagram that shows where the can bus wires run or where the modules are? Dealers claim they can't communicate with any module and therefor they can't program anything. Long story short- the PCM was dead at the beginning. I thought it was caused by a faulty regula...

Re: Idle issue, MIL lights on

Webmaster, By saying hard codes in the mechanics world I'm referring to Manufacturer Specific. Its a common term for seasoned mechanics to use when talking about codes. The P1233 is the code for Fuel Pump driver module and is used by others besides Ford. A P1---code is not Ford specific, GM also use...

Re: Need some advice/knowledge from people that know these c

Just wondering, did you have the alternator actually checked by a repair shop to see if it failed? The battery light on your dash will come on with both low /no voltage and too high voltage. If the alternator was actually charging, but the regulator went out, it will show alternator bad at the part ...

Re: Electrical Issues

First off, going to Autozone isn't helping your issue. Second, the PCM controls the regulator on the alternator. Its most likely though that your regulator is bad. Get it fixed because it can cause havoc and also fry every sensor on the Freestyle. And third, the design of the 4G alternator isn't to ...

Re: Need a new MAF sensor

Anywhere from $10-$75 from a salvage yard (car-part.com), depending on mileage. Why buy an expensive new one when you can get a good factory used one for less.

Re: [walkthrough] How to replace an alternator on a Freestyl

If you use a serpentine belt removal tool, to can reach under the wheel well with your left hand and remove/install the belt while your right hand pulls the tensioner above the fender, making it a one man job. Of course with the wheel removed. You can remove the bottom right and upper nut to remove ...

Re: Code P0113. Any suggestions

P0113 Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input. Wouldn't you check the intake temp sensor and not the MAF for this code? If I'm not mistaken, I believe they are two separate sensors.

Re: Idle issue, MIL lights on

Update: I replaced the Fuel rail pressure sensor and the fuel pump driver module. No codes are popping for those now but the idle is still around 1200. My scanner says idle average is 1168rpm. Funny how my new scanner is suppose to read ABS and it shows a ABS code, it also says no information availa...

Re: Idle issue, MIL lights on

The car has already been to the dealer and they claim they don't know whats wrong and will take 5-8 hours to diagnose it. At $99.95 an hour, they should be able to hook up the computer and pinpoint the problem, but they claim they can't "pinpoint" anything The locksmith guy said he had no problem co...

Idle issue, MIL lights on

I found out my alternator voltage regulator "fried" and allowed the alternator to charge at maximum voltage which was almost 19 volts. This caused havoc on all computer equipment on the car and fried all the following----> I had to replace the gauge cluster, smart junction box, pcm, abs control boar...

Re: Instrument Cluster Went Out

I thought my odometer was bad but found out that the KAM was not responding so it keeps the odometer from showing mileage. I talked to two different dealers in OKC and they both said they cannot reprogram dash gauge clusters, that dealers did not have the capability to do this. Especially the odomet...

Is the KAM and PCM all in the same box?

I found out that my KAM/PCM is not responding or communicating, so that's why my Freestyle won't crank and acts dead besides all the lights work. I thought a short my be present but couldn't find any tracing the wires. Several wires going to the PCM has 12v power to them. I'm assuming if power is ge...
