Re: Dreaded Water Pump Failure... help?

Get it fixed, it will cost you around 1k but those cars can run 400k easy....it might be a good ideea at the same time to check the timming chain, guides and tensioner....insist on a engine flush so all coolant traces are gone. It will be hard to find a better car even for 2-3k. PS - Make sure the f...

Re: Transmission maintenance question

Yes there is no filter to change , just drain the fluid 5 quarts will come out, refill with Mercon V, drive for 2 weeks repeat procedure to remove as much old fluid, don t buy cheap crap fluid, stick with Motorcraft if you can.

Re: How to improve gas mileage

Scotty even do your car is almost identical with ours yours has a 3.0 l engine and CVT transmission, yours has 3.0l 200 hp ours a 3.5 l 267hp and a 6 speed transmission.
The 3.5l is more fuel efficient than the 3.0l, also the Taurus X gas filter is part of the fuel pump and can t be changed.

Free flowing muffler will not improve mileage as the small gains will be made at the top of the engine power range...that means 5-6k rpm.....90% of the time you will never drive close to that range . The cold air filter at best will give you a 2-3hp gain again at the top of the range when volumetric...

Re: Sync phone doesn't dial the right name

The cars are now almost 10 years old, most people don t have them anymore...plus this model was built only 2 years so the numbers are not that great.

You can try the Ford Taurus and Fusion forums...Sync was installed on alot of cars .
