Water pump if it goes coolant gets in the oil, wheel bearing speed sensor, heating and cooling actuators are an issue, if the select output one goes you are looking at taking the entire dashboard out. PS- They are already old cars, my advice will be to look at the Lincoln MKT is based on the same ch...

Did you check the gas cap? It has a small pressure vent hole , try to get a new gas cap or one from a junk yard

Did you changed your spark plugs? Lean might mean a vacuum leak from a bad intake manifold gasket or a vacuum leak.

That is a first here on the forum so we can t help that much......looks like the PCM , you shouldve tried a used one from a salvage yard , most of them are good than try a refurbished one.

You are correct, it is/was a common issue, still way better than a transmission failure.

I think the ones from early Flex but don t know about the wires, also there were some android ones aftermarket that fit ...I don t want to lose the cd changer ....still have lots of cd s.

There is no reason not to use it crosscountry if worked well for a while, those engines and transmissions are one of the best....besides the water pump in engine crap.

Welcome and enjoy your stay , there are not many X 's left around, they are good cars......watch yours for PTU leaks and stay on top with regular maintenance, it should last you to 250k easy.

.....and if in one month you have no issues you are in the clear....you should test it do for an hour at least on highway at a constant speed 60-70mph or 100-120kph to make sure the pump is ok.

If you don t use a pump only 5L come out, just replace 5l take a trip and after one week do a change again with another 5l, make sure you use original Ford transmission fluid.....and please return here and let us know how it went.
