Re: Electrical issues 2005 Ford Freestyle

A bit of theory: -PCM uses an air temperature sensor to adjust the voltage of the generator. Therefore, it may be necessary to replace the mass airflow sensor. - Sometimes the contacts on the back of the Battery Junction Box are oxidized. It is necessary to remove the BJB and check contacts of fuse ...

Re: Running so rich you can.light exhaust fumes on fire

Pay attention to the catalytic converters. They could overheat, melt and clog up as a result of misfiring. You can slightly detach the catalysts from the exhaust manifold (at least the front bank2) and see the result. Perhaps we should be grateful to Ford for taking care of our wallets, because PCM ...

Re: Correct Oil Drain Plug Replacement Part Number?

By the way, you can use a standard bolt M12 * 1.75-30mm (1.18 ") and a copper washer or rubber + steel washers. If the threads of thread are damaged, then you can try using a bolt M12 * 1.75-40mm (1.57"). You will spend less than $ 0.5. These bolts are without magnets, but do magnet need for the 13-...

Re: Range sensor

I would change the range sensor only after making sure it's faulty. Theoretically range sensor is very reliable and works little. I would first check the serviceability of the sensor by removing the transmission pan or make cable length adjustment. But if you disassemble all cvt, then you will not n...

Auxiliary coolant pump repairing

I am not a blogger and photographer, but I think this is useful information for those who have a car equipped with an additional rear heater. Such cars have an auxiliary coolant pump (bosch) under hood. auxiliary_coolant_pump.png This pump probably does not work. This is the reason for the cold in t...

Re: Need Help 08 Taurus X ball joint play

I understand what you're talking about. When I was repairing the rear suspension, I could only change the bushings. The ball joint was in good condition, but it seemed to me that it is impossible to extrude. That's why I would buy a used wheel knuckle from awd car (fwd cars do not have ball joint)

Re: Need Help 08 Taurus X ball joint play

I would try to find a used knuckle. If necessary, you can replace bushing.

Re: What is the normal voltage range for the EGR DPFE signal

Did you read this article already (p. 51)? To determine the cause of the malfunction, a test in motion is required. But most likely the DPFE sensor is working. First I would clean and test the vacuum tubes between the EGR valve and the intake manifold, PS I found bad electrical contact in my EGR val...

Re: Radio resetting on my '06 Freestyle

I would check (and process with a spray for electrical contacts) the connector of radio. And also I would check the fuse F2.11 in the Smart Junction Box.It is possible that this fuse feeds the memory of radio.

Re: Ack! hope not a big issue

I have a 2006 and cannot locate bank 2 sensor 2. I have looked everywhere and I can't find any sensors post cat. Are you second owner? There are people who remove the internal of catalyc converters, oxygen sensors and reprogram the PCM for a small increase in engine power or they do not want to rem...

Re: Transmission Issue?

I start it and put it in reverse and it revs up but doesn't move.. I had the code read and it comes back the pcv valve. Can this be causing all this issue? Any idea? .. I wonder what kind of OBD-code you got? PCM cannot determine directly the fault of PCV-valve (even heating). But you can easily wa...

Re: Radiator Replacement Tutorial?

Several years ago I took off the radiator to clean the mosquitoes. But for some reason I had to do it not by instructions. I removed the radiator along with the cvt radiator (either it was easier together, or I wanted the cvt radiator to rinse too) Electric Engine Fan Removal & Installation: Disconn...

Re: Original Installed Fog Lights Lens Glass or Plastic

I was wondering if the original installed FOG lights on Freestyle were made by ford or an aftermarket brand and did they have glass or plastic lens. OEM fog lights made by Valeo(Belgium) It seems to me that all aftermarket and OEM foglights have glass lenses. There are hundreds of analogues of our ...
