Re: Wrench Light!

Hi all, A quick update. Wrench Light came on again this week, just once. Since the initial error, I have invested in the Blue Driver scan reader - figuring that way I could capture things as they happen and just store the code reader in the car. And - I got a code. TSS Sensor No Signal. Shut off, le...

Re: Wrench Light!

Hi, Update - we still have not had an opportunity to drive it for an hour straight on the highway. However we have not yet had any additional wrench or check engine lights yet. We have done 20-30 minute highway speed runs without any problems. The hard part is that usually if we are driving 1+ hours...

Re: Curt class III receiver hitch fail

Yeah that's a high level of rust, and a high level of miles. I have replaced the rear frame rail (the "box") before on our 2008 T-X. We were rear ended and the rail bent. The shop had a hard time locating that specific part, and I think if memory is correct it was about $300 for the part alone, not ...

Re: Wrench Light!

Allright, the weekend is over. I did do a quick drain and fill of the fluid, and now its at the right level. I didn't get an hours long drive in, but did drive it off and on all weekend and no problems. Really its too early to tell. The fluid that came out looked ok, I hope it was simply just a matt...

Re: Wrench Light!

So I've done a little research. Wrench light could be thrown by something in the tranny, but also by something in the throttle body. I'm going to ignore the throttle body for now. And this weekend I'll do a fluid drain and fill. I have done this a few times, and its been about 25k miles since the la...

Re: Curt class III receiver hitch fail

That is interested. Did you find corrosion / rust where the bolt fell through the channel? Or did it crack from fatigue? Our vehicle's first trailer hitch I installed, with the three bolts on each side. Two went straight up into the channel - one went sideways (horizontal). We were rear ended and th...

Re: Curt class III receiver hitch fail

Hi,

Did the bolts BREAK, or bend? Could you replace the bolts and tighten it back in place? My hitch is bolted on, three bolts on each side. I've heard of some people welding the hitch in place but haven't tried that options...

Now I'm curious.

Wrench Light!

Hi, A few nights ago, completing our Great American Roadtrip 2019 (3,000 miles over 10 days) - on the last three hour stretch home the 2008 T-X wrench light came on. No check engine or traction control light. The T-X has 145,000 miles on it. The car locked out the top gear (I think, based on RPM's) ...

Re: Rear Suspension Repair... and a Noise

Hi, OK here is the verdict. 1) Lower Control Arm bolt - I was trying to loosen it to get a little more play to mount up the new shock - and the bolt seized in the nut. I couldn't get the nut to go in (tight - to torque it back since it did loosen some) or out (any looser). I just drove it to the sho...

Re: Rear Suspension Repair... and a Noise

Hi, I got my shocks, Ford / Motorcraft OEM from Rock Auto. I got the coil springs from Tasca Parts. I didn't find any rear coil spring options, and Tasca was way cheaper then my local dealer. I did get the new rear rubber mount, where the coil springs meet the unibody - they were about $15 each side...

Rear Suspension Repair... and a Noise

Hi there, So - I certainly undertook a big job this week. Yesterday, I pulled and replaced the rear shocks and coil springs in the back of my AWD '08 X. First side took FOREVER, but once I figured it out the second side went quicker. Both coil springs were broken, and both were compressed. I think I...

Re: 2008 Taurus X Heated Seat Pads

Hi two pads one on back one on bottom. It's worth looking for an oem pad. I found what I needed on eBay. I've done it twice since the dorman pads I first put in didn't last long.

Hope this helps

Re: PTU, Suspenion, Brakes = Dropping Some Money on the T-X

So, New PTU installation occurred today. Dropped off car at 7:30am, got a call it was done just before noon. Everything went in smooth - I'll pick it up to drive it around soon and know for sure. I am hopeful. Shop mentioned that the new Ford PTU comes as a "sealed unit" meaning its prefilled with t...

PTU, Suspenion, Brakes = Dropping Some Money on the T-X

Hi all, Its been an expensive summer. Our T-X has 133,000 miles on it, and the suspension is beginning to show its age. Last week, in our home garage I replaced the front brakes / rotors and a caliper that was squeaking. Also did front wheel bearings (noise) and front struts. Took roughly 8 hours or...

Re: Front strut assembly removal AWD

I just did this yesterday. Replaced front hub/bearings and struts/mounts It wasn't hard just time consuming. In order: Popped front center caps off and broke hub but free. 32mm deep or axle socket needed. Loosened lug nut and removed tire. Remove and hang caliper. Remove rotor Back off hub nut but n...
