Re: Rear Suspension Repair... and a Noise
Hi, OK here is the verdict. 1) Lower Control Arm bolt - I was trying to loosen it to get a little more play to mount up the new shock - and the bolt seized in the nut. I couldn't get the nut to go in (tight - to torque it back since it did loosen some) or out (any looser). I just drove it to the sho...

Re: Rear Suspension Repair... and a Noise
Hi, I got my shocks, Ford / Motorcraft OEM from Rock Auto. I got the coil springs from Tasca Parts. I didn't find any rear coil spring options, and Tasca was way cheaper then my local dealer. I did get the new rear rubber mount, where the coil springs meet the unibody - they were about $15 each side...

Rear Suspension Repair... and a Noise
Hi there, So - I certainly undertook a big job this week. Yesterday, I pulled and replaced the rear shocks and coil springs in the back of my AWD '08 X. First side took FOREVER, but once I figured it out the second side went quicker. Both coil springs were broken, and both were compressed. I think I...

Re: 2008 Taurus X Heated Seat Pads
Hi two pads one on back one on bottom. It's worth looking for an oem pad. I found what I needed on eBay. I've done it twice since the dorman pads I first put in didn't last long.
Hope this helps

Re: PTU, Suspenion, Brakes = Dropping Some Money on the T-X
So, New PTU installation occurred today. Dropped off car at 7:30am, got a call it was done just before noon. Everything went in smooth - I'll pick it up to drive it around soon and know for sure. I am hopeful. Shop mentioned that the new Ford PTU comes as a "sealed unit" meaning its prefilled with t...

PTU, Suspenion, Brakes = Dropping Some Money on the T-X
Hi all, Its been an expensive summer. Our T-X has 133,000 miles on it, and the suspension is beginning to show its age. Last week, in our home garage I replaced the front brakes / rotors and a caliper that was squeaking. Also did front wheel bearings (noise) and front struts. Took roughly 8 hours or...

Re: Front strut assembly removal AWD
I just did this yesterday. Replaced front hub/bearings and struts/mounts It wasn't hard just time consuming. In order: Popped front center caps off and broke hub but free. 32mm deep or axle socket needed. Loosened lug nut and removed tire. Remove and hang caliper. Remove rotor Back off hub nut but n...

Re: Resale Value
Interesting. Which year, mileage, location? I think location makes a big difference because we're in Minnesota, and our AWD '08 T-X seems to book for more here then it does in other places. Would be interested to see the example. Thanks. D

Re: Need Help With New Keys 2008 Taurus X
Hi, I ran through the same problem when we first purchased our T-X (used) and one of the two keys would run down the battery in a few days. I tried about four or five different generic keys (off ebay, Amazon, ect..). NONE. NONE. of them would operate the power liftgate. None. I had to go get the fac...

Re: Rear Ended! (again!)
Hi, Got the car back from the body shop yesterday. Looks ok - new frame rail welded in, floor pan is straight, hitch has been installed (by bolting on, which I prefer and shows that things are lined up ok). We are pleased with the repairs, took the show just over a week to complete. Am glad they fou...

Rear Ended! (again!)
OK so my wife's '08 T-X got rear ended last month (again). The last accident was 2 years ago, and just required a new bumper cover / trim / step pad and new parking sensors, so it wasn't bad. This one was worse - higher speeds and the car slid under ours. Damage includes Bumper Cover(s) / trim / ste...

Re: IKT Programming issues
I also have a 2008 with the power liftgate, I tried several "knock off" keys from ebay and Amazon - and they never worked on the liftgate (although other items would work). Only thing that worked consistently was an OEM key from Ford. My theory is that these keys are commonly and illegally copied, a...

Re: Adding power lift gate from donor car 2009 trex
This is a great question. My 2008 has the power liftgate, and its about 75% woth it, 25% not. Have you looked into these items: Push button on the center stack. Are you planning on pulling the front button? Push button on the back, left, inner panel (next to lift bar) - I assume you're getting the e...

Re: Front brake job
Sounds nice. I just did the front brakes on my wife's '08 T-X again. Background, we bought the car with about 65,000 miles. Dealership did new brakes and turned the rotors. About two years later, the rotors were warped. I replaced the rotors and kept the new pads on. About a year and a half later, a...

Re: 2007 Ford Freestyle CATCHING ON FIRE
Thanks for writing back - I am still interested in hearing how this works out, but if you are going to bring up a lawsuit I might have to wait for a few years to see what happens (unless you get a settlement). Too bad about the insurance coverage. A very wise friend of mine once gave me this advice:...
