Re: A/C pressures

Freon is a refrigerant. The question was is synthetic refrigerant (Freon) compatible with non-synthetic refrigerant. R-134A comes in both versions just like all the oils do now........

Re: Is it necessary to change the filter with CVT fluid change?

I got a set of Freestyle Manuals (vol 1 and 2 and the Electrical manual) and the specs say it takes 10 quarts of CVT fluid. Does that mean that 3 are left in the transmission/torque converter when you drain the fluid? Is there anyway to get it all out?

Re: 05 FS AWD Limited Edition

Does anyone know of a conversion kit for the 05 to make it have the option of switching to two wheel drive instead of AWD like the 06 has? Not aware of anything like that! Never heard that there was any option to turn the AWD off on any year FS. It basically only comes on when needed, why do you wan...

Re: Ford Freestyle reliability - how does it compare?

197,360 miles on my 05, starting to leak oil around the head gaskets and valve cover gaskets, replaced scroll valve twice, changed all my fluids and filters myself when car had 25K miles, no problems with drive train or suspension. Needed to add a quart of CVT fluid when it went into limp mode aroun...

A/C pressures

My ac quite blowing cold on my 05 Freestyle with 185,000K miles. Replaced the scroll valve a year ago. Tried to charge the system with 134A but the low pressure port read 85 and would not come down or take a charge. Any suggestions?

Re: warm a/c while driving in the city

The one for from the Ford Dealer was only 19 dollars. I went ahead and ordered the one from the forum so I'll have both when the shop changes it out. Could not find the other one on any of the website parts .

Re: warm a/c while driving in the city

I was able to order the compressor control vlv. from my Ford Dealer but it doesn't look like the one Spidy took pictures of. My has a hex shaped body instead of being round and vlv fitting on both ends. Any thoughts?

Re: 200,500 miles NOW, No single CVT Fluid & H.P. Filter cha

I was able to get the top one loose by hitting the circumference of the screw head with a chisel but can't get a good angle on the other two so I tried an easyout but that did not work. How hot is hot enough? I used an electric soldering gun to heat the head up because I couldn't get my pencil torch...

Re: 200,500 miles NOW, No single CVT Fluid & H.P. Filter cha

Second time I'm replacing my filters at 150,000. First time was a snap thanks to pictures posted on this site. I must have put too much locktite on the high pressure filter cover screws because I could only get the top one to break loose. I tried heating the heads but I think I stripped the torx. an...

Re: $8.98 Transaxle Roll Resistor Replacement

I bought the O'Reilly's resistor for $38.00 which is an exact replacement for the ford, thought it would come with the bracket for that price (more than the Volvo $8.00 one) but i just have to remove the bracket and press the old one out and the new one back in. In the meantime i filled the space ar...
