Re: Mice in cabin - Solution!

It's the truth, deal with it. I'm not here to debate what happened to my car. Just because something didn't happen to you, doesn't mean it can't happen. I won't bother posting back on here, but hopefully this helps someone who is having the same issue, as opposed to luring in ungrateful trolls, who ...

Re: Mice in cabin - Solution!

Is your FS a convertible? Because there is not headroom for an adult to stand up in the 3rd row. All I did was post about a problem I encountered, and how I solved it. I searched and found a few posts about people with mice, but nobody ever posted about how they actually got in, so I thought I woul...

If you have tried to remove one of those plugs you know how unlikely it is for them to accidentally come loose.
That's the thing, I didn't try, all it takes is a 200 lb adult to stand on it a certain way and it pops out. Kids probably aren't heavy enough to do it.

Re: Mice in cabin - Solution!

Why Ford thought it was a good idea to put a giant plastic plug (think, coffee can lid) in TWO places on the floor where adults will step on them and possibly fall THROUGH the floor is beyond me. IDK what you are talking about - those plugs are there so that the fuel pump can be serviced without ta...

Mice in cabin - Solution!

FYI, the past several months I've had a problem with mice getting inside the Freestyle. I've had it for years with never a problem, then all of a sudden I was finding evidence. I set traps and would catch them one by one, but every few days another would get in. The car is kept empty/clean and vacuu...

Re: How to replace and outside mirror with casing.

FYI, I had to do this on my '07 Freestyle SEL today (wife hypothetically backed the driver's mirror into the garage doorway). I bought a used mirror (OEM quality is much better than aftermarket in this instance, IMO...I've read that many of the cheaper aftermarket mirrors don't dampen vibration as w...

Re: 2007 CVT cold start issue

Sounds like you replaced the pan filter, which according to Ford is a lifetime part (no need to replace). There is, however, a high-pressure filter on the side of the trans that you are supposed to replace. I did mine at just shy of 100k miles, and it was black. I don't know for certain if the filte...

Re: 6055.8 mile trip and some statistics

Ours is accurate to within ~0.2 MPG (I have tracked the fuel consumption of all my vehicles since I started driving....have some interesting stats to figure out which gas stations get me the most bang for the buck). The best I've gotten, period, is ~23 MPG. Typical is 20.5, with 80% highway driving ...

Re: Handling of 07 freestyle

Many tires are designed to be mounted on the rim only 1 way (not necessarily directional, though). The inner and outer sidewalls have different rigidity. If one of the tires was mounted on the rim backward, you would have uneven loading. Also, verify that the tires are all the same size. As silly as...

Re: Poor warmup in cold weather

Also, I run a block heater when it gets to single digits or below here. The funny thing, though, is it's magnetic, and even the oil pan on this car is aluminum, so I have to stick it to the oil filter.

Re: Friend's FS started growling under load/accel...

Could also be the CV axle(s). FWIW, when the front bearing(s) went bad on mine, it would do a slow thrumming at 55 MPH+. You would just feel an intermittent vibe in the gas pedal and faintly hear it. Below about 55, nothing. It would get louder/quieter when swerving (not much swerving you can do at ...

Re: Swap 500 6 sp into Freestyle not possible.

Personally, I find it unlikely that the two ECUs are even electrically compatible. It's amazing that the transmission even had the same harness plugs (did it?), considering the CVT will have hydraulic servo valves to modulate clamping pressure on the primary/secondary spools, and the 6-speed will ha...

Re: FYI - CVT Transmission High RPM Issues with ABS/TC light

I only removed the wheel, brake caliper, and rotor. With those out of the way, the 4 bolts are easy enough to get at with the right ratchet and some extensions. I think the OEM bearings themselves are of decent quality (others have suggested otherwise)...the problem appears to be from the fact that ...

Re: FYI - CVT Transmission High RPM Issues with ABS/TC light

Also, tools required were: ~32 MM (I think it's not metric, actually) axle nut socket...my 1-1/4 fit as well, but wasn't deep enough -15mm socket wrench and short extension for the caliper bracket bolts, and the bolts holding the hub assembly in -Sledge hammer, pickle fork, crow bar (for prying that...

Re: FYI - CVT Transmission High RPM Issues with ABS/TC light

Well, I finally got around to replacing the front left (driver's side here in the US) wheel bearing, and the problem appears to be solved! Again, symptoms were a high-pitched vibration/thrumming that would come and go at low frequency, varying with wheel speed, even in neutral. It would get loudest ...
