Re: Out of the Freestyle world

Hello all, After 5 years, we traded in our 2005 Limited over the holiday. We picked up a 2017 Explorer... Have you had enough time with the Explorer to provide a comparison. I love my 2007 Freestyle but I know that eventually I'll have to replace it. I test drove an Explorer back in the 90s I think...

Sounds good. I didn't even think about that. Thanks.

Out of the Freestyle world

Hello all, After 5 years, we traded in our 2005 Limited over the holiday. We picked up a 2017 Explorer. I will miss the Freestyle, but it was time to move on. Our plans were to keep it, so I recently bought several maintenance items that I will now need to unload. I'll post in the for sale section. ...

Re: throttle body adjustment gone wrong !

Agreed with a new throttle body is now needed. These cars are throttle by wire, so you are not making adjustments the "old fashioned way".

Re: '05 FreeStyle 152K Rough Idle, Acceleration Lagging, Stalling

Look them up @ https://www.obd-codes.com and don't replace any parts unless they fail tests. Agreed. These cars are more than smart enough to tell you what part has failed and needs replacement. If you are just radomly replacing parts, expect to spend a fortune. Research your codes and move forward...

Re: DIY maintenance manual

Keep an eye on Ebay (as mentioned). I just bought the 3 volume factory service manual for $70 last week. There are plenty of ones for $100+, but if you're patient you will find one for less.

Also agreeing to rotate. Unless you have a vehicle with staggered tires, you need to rotate regardless of drivetrain.

Re: Rear Step Pad - Remove and Reinstall

I have removed mine and installed it several times and have never broken a tab. Lie on your back under neath your bumper and you'll see a series of tabs (towards the front of the pad) that hold the step pad "down" on the bumper. release each one, and lift that front part of the bumper pad up. Once r...

Re: Oil Life / Oil Change Reminder

I wish there was. I do a 10k OCI and I have to reset mine twice each time. As far as I'm aware, there is no way to increase the mileage.

Re: Full Synthetic Motor Oil or Blend ?

I would switch to full synthetic. In fact, I have been doing this on all of my vehicles for years regardless of mileage. At what mileage do you change your oil now? If your concerned with money, I bet you could offset the minimal increase in oil price by adding mileage to your OCI. Currently I'm doi...

Thanks for the follow up. This may be the first instance of the pan filter causing an issue. At least that I have read. Hopefully it keeps working for you. How many total miles on the car?

Pics would help, as your describtion is confusing to me. There have been several posts of people changing the control arms over the years, and your post is the first one where I have read this issue.

Re: No sunroof, water leaking from rear wheel well after rain.

I was also doubtful. It was a "throw stuff at the wall and see what sticks" moment. After removing the headliner a few times, and checking everything else I could see and/or find on the internet I figured, "what the hell" and just tried it. To my surprise, it has not leaked since. I did this in the ...
