Re: A Plug for Motorcraft Oil & Filters

Looks like my engine! I replaced the valve cover gaskets at about 160k (one starting to leak a little) and it was nice and clean like yours! I also use Motorcraft all the time and change every 4500-5000 miles. Now at 172k, changed the fuel filter and wow... it needed it!(is it normal for the gas to ...

Re: Alternator Problems!! 2007 Freestyle

I have tested both ways and it didn't seem to matter much. For instance, I would reach in and turn on headlights and voltage would drop momentarily and then recover.

Re: Alternator Problems!! 2007 Freestyle

So far so good???? Now after a short trip and a 45 minute drive here is what I am seeing. When I got home, the battery is showing about 13.4 volts after turning off engine. With engine running, the voltage at the battery is constantly fluctuating ... will drop as low as 12.4v and as high as 14.5v. O...

Re: Alternator Problems!! 2007 Freestyle

Well... NAPA reluctantly (after a five minute 'disagreement') gave me an old alternator to bring back to Ford. I said they either get my old one back, give me an old one or refund an extra $75 core charge for Ford. The other day, Napa told me I had to have the car tested if I wanted to return the al...

Re: Alternator Problems!! 2007 Freestyle

Well.... Ford tested the car and the test show the Alt is bad ... only producing 12.6 volts. I will take off Alt and take back to NAPA. Lets see how that goes! Have an new Motorcraft Alt on hold at Ford dealership. If this doesn't fix it... might be trade in time!!!!! ARRGGHHH! I hate electrical Iss...

Re: Alternator Problems!! 2007 Freestyle

Took Car to Ford Dealership for testing. Will pick up car tomorrow. Funny thing is I drove it 20 miles to Ford and never acted up and I tested bat/alt at the dealership and everything was fine. Ford called a couple hours later and said the alt tested bad. I will take Ford's evaluation to Napa and re...

Re: Alternator Problems!!

3rd Update.... Had car towed home. Got home, put tester on battery and it showed 12.5+/- volts(approx.) and I started car. Tester showed alt putting out about 14.5+/- volts. I did not allow to run longer that about 1 minute and shut it off. All gauges were working again. Napa says probably not alt. ...

Re: Alternator Problems!!

Update: Went back to NAPA, they tested the Alt on their fancy machine but it showed it was normal and working fine. I told him to let it run on the machine for a minute and watch the voltage rise but their machine will only run for about 20 seconds before shutting off. So... I said come out to the t...

Re: [walkthrough] How to replace an alternator on a Freestyle

Just got done pulling the alt out. Took me longer to get the black plug out of the top of the alternator than anything else! Apparently my arm is about 1 inch too short to reach in there. Plus. next time going to request removable eyes! Wouldn't that be nice.. pop you eye out, set it where you want!...

Re: What Ford Radio fits??

Sorry... My current radio DOES NOT have GPS. Are the wires/antenna already there to add one of Fords radio/gps, say, one out of an excursion or montego? I've been burning CD's since the stone age! j/k I know about 'closing' the CD. My burned CD's will work in my Chevy Cobalt, Ford Probe and even the...

What Ford Radio fits??

Hello, I would like to replace the existing Radio/Sat/6cd changer in my Freestyle Limited(2007). It has problems reading most CD's made on the computer.

Are there any of the FORD radios that have the GPS unit built in that will work?

Thanks! Roger
