Re: 2009 Ford Taurus X. LED Headlights.

Not gonna work. The lenses are designed for halogen bulbs, if you put another other type of bulb in them you will either blind other motorists or have worse light output than before.

Thank god you didn't buy the Traverse, its like GM tried to copy the Taurus X but had no clue what they were doing. In terms or reliability and serviceability the Traverse makes the Taurus X look like a Honda.

Re: Just Picked Up One... What Do I Need To Know?

The scissor jacks included with vehicles is adequate. They are designed to be used on flat solid ground, not on dirt or an incline. A floor jack is the same way, it needs to be able to roll while lifting the weight of the vehicle. The only thing that can lift straight up and is more solid that a sci...

Re: Just Picked Up One... What Do I Need To Know?

Pre-emptively...when would on go about attacking that? Or should I just wait. Changing the water pump on these is a big job so its best to just wait and maintain your cooling system properly. Change your coolant at the specified interval, use the correct concentration, and keep it full. My moms has...

Re: Camber can't be adjusted to within spec

I've NEVER done an alignment on a vehicle that had positive rear camber issues. The only way that you would have that issue is if either the springs are wrong or the vehicle was in a crash. Most likely its a toe problem causing your tire wear issue as camber usually has to be pretty extreme to cause...

Re: 09' Trex SEL needing trans will be moving on

What is the transmission doing? Most issues can be traced back to the valve body or shift solenoids which can be replaced without removing the transmission from the car. My mothers 08 has almost 200K miles (322K kms) and it still has its original transmission.

My mom's 08 SEL 2WD books for around $4500 so that value is surprising.

Re: Rear Ended! (again!)

This is a unibody vehicle, what you call the frame rail will need to be cut out and a new piece welded in. Your estimated cost of the repair is the same or greater than what the vehicle is worth so unless you are doing all the work it isn't worth it.

Re: 2009 Air Conditioning Issues

The first problem is probably the blend door for the drivers side vents not moving correctly either due to the actuator or door sticking or being damaged. It could also be the control module Second problem is caused by the evaporator getting too cold and plugged with ice. This could be due to a low ...

Re: Camber can't be adjusted to within spec

As a mechanic, if your tires are wearing fine then don't worry about it. While excessive camber can cause tire wear excessive toe is far worse. If you want to pursue it further then the question "what is causing it to be borderline out of spec in the first place?" needs to be asked. Are all of the b...

Re: Taurus X owners with high miles speak up! :-)

I did change the fluid a second time and added a friction modifier once I found out it was doing it again but that did little to nothing. The only thing I can figure is that the shock load from the misfire could cause a clutch to slip slightly and show up on the scan tool. I know how a transmission ...

Re: 2006 FS FRONT CONTROL ARMS

For one that part isn't listed by Raybestos as fitting the Freestyle or Taurus X. For some reason they only sell the rearward bushing with the whole control arm. You may be able to replace the bushing without removing the arm but the only thing left holding it on would be the ball joint at which poi...

Re: Taurus X owners with high miles speak up! :-)

You can bet it solved your issue......if you have had transmission or torque converter issues a spark plug change wouldn t had solved anything ......like putting an arm in a cast for a guy who had a heart attack But that's the thing. Doing the trans stuff DID fix the issue for 3 days and when it re...
