Re: A different kind of CVT problem

How did you pull a transmission out from the top without pulling the motor with it?

Re: A different kind of CVT problem

I honestly didn't know that a torque converter COULD be opened and "repaired". That's why is one goes out, it is just replaced. Interesting.

Re: A different kind of CVT problem

On a side note the local jobber could only get 6 litres of fluid in, so it's low, just below the bottom hole in the dipstick, but from what I understand, you get harsh shifting if your fluid is low. I'm trying to understand why the local "jobber" (mechanic?) couldn't fill to the correct level? You ...

Re: Anyone With An Aftermarket Double Din Stereo?

Cool! Can see them now. As for the steering wheel controls, for them to work, you need to add this:

Works like a charm too!

Fuse? But I'm leaning towards a bad ignition lock cylinder from your description.

Re: Best new replacement Tires

The Altimax is a great tire, I've had them myself and loved them. So much so that when it came time to tire another vehicle, I bought Altimax. But now I am a true fan of Yokohama tires and just got a set of YK-HTX and are 70,000 mile tires. I got 80,000 from my previous set of 60,000 Yokohama tires....

Re: Replace hood insulation?

The insulation is only a noise barrier and to keep heat off the hoods paint. But you said no worries about the body condition so I (personally) wouldn't worry much about it. I've never known mice to move into a car that is regularly used (daily) before, only ones that sit. Start driving it around mo...

Re: who has the most miles ?

Well, AAA said the transmission was slipping last time I had it in for service for the ERG & general check (I think ERG is what it was - not a car techie at all). So I figured it was the trans. I just went outside to try and crank it after I left my last post and when I turned the ignition it was d...

Re: Anyone tried aftermarket dash GPS/DVD/Bluetooth?

I'll add a rear camera too. How to route the cable properly to the radio cabin? Maybe need the antenna extension cable too? No extension needed for antenna with the Boss. As for the backup cam, I took the easy and fast way to mount...Mounted under the rear bumper cover, wires go up thru an access h...
