Do any body knows where to buy the tools need for this transmission taking apart?
I be more concerned with the availability of replacement parts [there are none available] than the tools needed. And if you need to buy the tools, you are way beyond your pay scale.

Thought you said too small? Anyway, sorry I didn't see this sooner. I've replaced both axles on ours. Glad you got it going. 8)

He's right. I've never liked the hard-ass seats in the Freestyle.

Re: Left Rear Caliper issues

What exactly is "overheating"? And what are the symptoms? Do the brakes drag? Is the E-Brake adjusted properly?

That part number is not an enclosure, but the sub amp itself.

Glass lens, about $60 IIRC from Ford. Had to replace one of mine when I bought it [and didn't notice it broken untill after]

Re: Purely theoretical

No. Easy going automatic from manual, not so much the other way around. However, the 3.0 Duratec is one helluva fine engine... 8)

Re: Brake bias is not as advertised

Brakes have always been front main, rear control, nothing surprising. This is why front brakes wear faster than rears do.

Sounds to me like you desperately need new struts all around. Your braking performance will improve 110% guaranteed. Don't touch the brake system itself.

Re: who has the most miles ?

I say that because I bought mine for $8000 out the door w/132,000 [I think, might have been 152?] 8 years ago. I just think you can get a better price.

And yeah, the CVT has been fixed.
That would be the tipping point for me. If the CVT needs any repair, I want nothing to do with it...beyond typical maintenance, fluid change etc...I also have a real problem spending 6 grand for an 11 year old car. But I'm also a cheapskate. ;)

Re: 05 Freestyle dash cluster quit but all dash lights are illuminated

Yeah, the Freestyle is at EOL anymore and no one really comes here as they have moved on. I still come here though. Never [thankfully] dealt with your issue. I'm glad it was an easy and cheap [free] fix. I guess the next question to answer is how it got wet and tackle that issue so it doesn't ...

Re: who has the most miles ?

213,000 miles on our 07 Limited. Replaced AC compressor at around 200,000, which cured all the same AC issues of scroll valves, etc. Original CVT is just starting to be problematic (see my thread of Dec. 6th, titled 2007 Freestyle...OBD Code P0715...). Not sure what to do with that...anyone dealt w...

Re: who has the most miles ?

Hey all, I know I'm jumping on an old thread here, but I'm considering purchasing a 2005 freestyle sel as a back and forth to work car. (Approx 30 country / city miles per day) Pros, nice body ( for north Midwest rust), nice interior. Cons, 210,000 miles. Asking price is $2000, but I think I could ...

Re: who has the most miles ?

I do. Just bought my 05 Freestyle SEL 3 months ago 317449 miles. Bought at an auction for 300.00$. Working on issues. Misfire on cylinder 1. Changed all fluids top & bottom. Need to pull my diff sensor & clean it, traction control error. Most comfortable riding car I've ever owned. Hoping for 500K ...
