Re: Curt class III receiver hitch fail

Our 08 TX was put out to pasture by similar (but not as catastrophic) unibody failure. viewtopic.php?t=8079

Ours was a Hidden Hitch and if I remember correctly it used 6 bolts as well, not that it matters when sheetmetal gets rusty. Life in snow country! :(

Taurus X is by far the better car, better engine...
Just remember the Taurus X uses 3.5 with internal water pump - can be pocketbook killer to R&R the pump (or entire engine when coolant dumps into oil pan).

So I'd say different engine, not better.

Re: 1 Year Review

PRO's - Love the aggressive growl on start up. Wish I could tweak the muffler to make it sound a bit meaner. Are you sure the "growl" isn't your timing chain? Startup rattle is indicator of timing chain stretch and possibly water pump bearing failure. Just a thought. Glad it's treating you well and...

Re: Low speed shudder/ESC activation? - SECOND UPDATE

Never had that issue appear again - 145K miles. I'm going to agree that it had something to do with the brake rotors.

Re: Cabin air flow loss with AC on

Never came to any conclusion on cause, nor resolution on this AC issue. Spring trip to FL went off without the issue coming up at all - 1700+ miles and zero problems. I still suspect intermittent electrical gremlins, but TX is not in my stable anymore so I'll never know.

On to the Flex forum.

08 TX SEL is no longer in our garage - last week a 16 Flex SEL took it's place. The TX had a good run with our family and I hope the Flex does as well. Still getting used to glass cockpit in the Flex - I'm partial to dedicated gauges. It does have noticeably more interior room and very comfortable s...

Unibody faling at hitch attachment

Our 2008 TX SEL FWD (145k) is done as a tow vehicle. Passenger side unibody has broken spot welds and/or sufficient rust that makes it unsafe. Took popup (#1850 + bikes and gear) out this weekend and noticed intermittent squeaking from rear passenger side at 20-50 MPH. Tried to duplicate at standsti...

Re: I think it's on its way out...

Totally agree on the debt issue, but the water pump failing gives me nightmares. And with little to no warning.

Re: I think it's on its way out...

Sadly, I'm feeling the same way on our 08 TX SEL @ 144k. I have had few major issues , but control arm bushings, tie rod ends, and struts are due. My biggest concern is water pump and the cost of just that replacement is more than car is worth at this point. We did do a 1700 mile round trip in April...

Re: Cabin air flow loss with AC on

Just seems strange that it can clear so quickly as well as not freeze right back up again. 4x70 cabin cooling just doesn't do it for kids these days so I'll have to get this resolved. :)

Re: Cabin air flow loss with AC on

Thanks. I don't have AC service tools so I'll have my shop check it out. On another fourm it was pointed out that that a small loss of refrigerant can cause this behavior as well, so getting the basics checked would certainly be the place to start.

Cabin air flow loss with AC on

This is something of a follow up to a previous thread RE blend door/cabin air mode actuator: https://www.myfordfreestyle.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=7265 That fixed an issue, but no THE issue which is loss of cabin air output after ~1hr. drive time with the AC on. It's one of those things that makes ...

Re: X - Roof Rack Cross Bars

https://www.farmandfleet.com/products/780491-cargoloc-52-aluminum-roof-top-cross-bars.html I have used these on 08 TX SEL no problem - however they can only be mounted at the front of the rails where there's a gap to grab all the way around. I don't have a sunroof, so that's not an issue in my case,...

Re: How hard to remove starter on 06 Freestyle?

I just replaced a battery from 2013 first weekend of October (2008 TX 135K) - overnight temp dropped to freezing 2 consecutive nights and it stopped taking charge. Simple fix, but not very convenient since I was on an out of town trip. ODBII wifi/app helped a bunch - easily diagnosed 11.8v "dead" an...
