Re: Just bought my Freestyle home and now I'm freaked out.

No Ford tech here...I am a biologist from Minnesota. Count me in as another very happy Freestyle owner. We have owned ours for about 4yrs now and put 48K miles on it. I did have the CVT service done just after 60K and it was a little over $300. One word of advice though...ask questions that you know...

Anyone run Cooper CS4's in winter...or others?

After going through 11 pages of posts and reading all of the tire suggestions, I am getting a headache. I am replacing Goodyear Assurance tires which are like drag slicks on our N. Minnesota winter snow. When these Goodyears were OK yet, I was thinking snow tires, but now that they are getting to th...

leather-wrapped steering wheel

Just wondering if anyone has run into this before. We have a tan interior on our Freestyle, and the top of the steering wheel has recently begun to wear badly. Now, I will self-admit I am not a "10 & 2" driver but rather one handed at "noon", as you might have guessed and realize it is at least part...

215/65-17 replacement suggestions??

All- I realize this subject has been brought up many times, but a quick search revealed the subject of tires had not been discussed in a while and just wanted an update on your experiences and suggestions. If you search my postings, I previously wanted suggestions on a snow tire to replace our Goody...

engineering mode?

Greetings All-
I just read on the CVT thread about getting tranny temp via the engineering mode. Can anyone enlighten me on this?

Thanks.

Re: Is it necessary to change the filter with CVT fluid chan

Just wanted to chime in my recent CVT service. I shopped this around awhile until I received the answers I was looking for and went with a good-sized dealer. I spoke exclusively with the service manager and was one step from pissing him off with my constant reminders and ques about fill vs. flush, n...

R&R overhead reading lamps question

Greetings All- I am on a bit of a LED kick (replaced my license plate lights with LEDs -- awesome look) and would like to replace the reading lamps/overhead lights with LEDs. Does the clear lens of the light unit come off separately or does the whole unit need to come down?? I was able to remove jus...

Re: Roof Rack? Yakima Preferred

We have the Yakima setup...works and looks great. As was previously said, it is quite loud at highway speeds though. Not so much to get me to remove it yet, but loud nonetheless. And moving the crossbars back really doesn't cut the noise...oh well.

Re: Does your freestyle make any noise in reverse?

Yes, my '07 does a little bit...I am not sure I would call it a whine though. Nothing in drive. Only at 55,000 miles so no tranny service yet. The car has been flawless so assuming it is normal. IF not, I really would like to know ASAP as it is still warrenty covered!!!

Re: auto locks question

I know it can be disabled...I have read the owner's manual. I certainly do not mind the auto locking feature. The issue is I simply do not understand why it doesn't AUTO UNLOCK as other 2007 Ford vehicles do: lock all doors when the car reaches 5mph and unlock all doors when it is put into PARK. See...

Re: auto locks question

But as you said, it is overkill. I just don't understand why Ford would include this on one model and not all. It would be interesting to know which '07 Ford models had the feature. Fine, call it a safety feature (which I really doubt it is) but at the very least make in defeatable, much like the au...

auto locks question

Greetings. A question regarding the auto locking feature of the Freestyle: My sister-in-law owns a '07 Explorer with the same auto locking feature as our cars but her Explorer also auto unlocks when the truck is placed into Park. Unless I have missed it, I do not think the Freestyle does this -- why...

Re: Brush Guard?

Save your money and time in the search. "Brush guards" are for asthetics mainly and even do a poor job at protecting the vehicle from brush most of the time! So even if you found one it still is pretty much useless. ". I wouldn't say they are "worthless". I have a full Manik brush guard on my Explo...

Re: X - Roof Rack Cross Bars

I will go one step further to inquire why even on most late model SUVs, no cross bars are installed at the factory? It seems that the functionality of these "roof racks" has taken a back seat on most vehicles, not just our FS/X cars. To this day, I believe the factory moveable crossbar/independent m...
