Saying Good-bye

Time to say good-bye to our Freestyle and this forum. We bought our '06 new towards the end of that year. It served us well and was the best vehicle we've owned. We had it 12 years and had 213,000 miles (never had the CVT touched). It survived 3 kids growing up in it, did it without complaining and ...

The headlights coming on for some reason is a feature of this car when the battery is completely drained.

We have had our FS for 4 1/2 years, at 102k now, and it is the best vehicle we have owned and the most trouble free.

Re: 2006 Ford Freestyle Limited problems

I was wondering why you would have out of pocket costs to replace a transmission at 40k. Our '06 Freestyle came with a 3yr/36k b-to-b and a 5yr/60k powertrain. That was the regular warranty at the time, we didn't buy the extended.

I wrap the jumper cables around the spare tire and am still able to tuck a few additional things down there too.

Re: 2005 Freestyle Battery Replacment Time ?

We just replaced the original battery in our '06 last month. It was just completely dead in our driveway one morning. Wouldn't even take a jump. I had it towed to have a new battery installed and also get the systems checked. Everything OK just a completely dead battery. We're lucky it died when and...

Re: How to turn off interior lights w/lift gate open at driv

Yes with the key in either "Accessory" position or "Run" position. You still need to "trick" the lock mechanism to keep the hatch open and the lights to turn off. I guess I used the term "on position" because I'm just a little Old School as to when the "Accessory" position was to turn the key backwa...

Re: How to turn off interior lights w/lift gate open at driv

This question has resurfaced again, so I will repost my answer to the ever illuminated interior lights. OK, so heres the deal with the interior lights and the drive in movie theater. Most drive in theaters broadcast the movie sound via radio signal, in order to listen to the movie through the FS spe...

Re: Canoe hauling and trailer hitch

We hauled a canoe on ours a few weeks ago. 17ft aluminum using the foam blocks and it fit between the roof rails. My wife and I lifted it on/off 4 times. It was rather heavy and ackward, but managable. With the sloped roof the front of the canoe was only about a foot above the hood. I used two rache...

Re: Considering a 05 Freestyle - Advice Welcome!

I would say if you like it and you think its a good fit for your family then go for it. We were a little leary when purchasing ours instead of a minivan due to space. We also have three kids. After owning it for what will be four years in October, its been perfect for our family. If my wife has her ...

Our front brakes lasted 80k and the rear are at 50k after the 30k recall / replacement.
For me, I'm not complaining too much about the brakes.

Finally Joined !

Well I finally joined this forum. I have been literally lurking on here for years. Let me tell you our story. We got our first good look at a Freestyle at the Ford booth of our state fair in '04 or '05. I knew it would be a vehicle I wanted to keep an eye on for a future purchase. Jump ahead to fall...

Re: FYI all ! Check those Serpentine belt tensioners!

This very thing happened to our Freestyle June 09. After a romantic anniversary dinner, we had both cars and driving home separately. I got ahead of my wife and to the house. Well the serpentine belt snapped taking out a sensor and it died right on the road, leaving her stranded in her heels and coc...
