Re: Freestyle in DISTRESS!!

suggest making sure then throttle is closing all the way, I clean the body with seafoam cleaner. on front and back side of the plate and on the shaft at the rotate points. If the plate is not closed all the way this can impact the positioning sensor and throw off the computer.

Re: who has the most miles ?

Hello all! I'm back. I now have slowed down on the long trips.....so I now have 358K. Nothing more changed since the cvt at 274k. Still have the original fuel pump, engine and parts. On the engine only thing change beyond regular maintenance is the water pump and thermostat. I honestly feel this veh...

Re: Starter does not always engage flywheel

Ok the starter switch is now replaced, starts strong no more touchy weak starting. This starter switch is in the column (left side) behind the key ignition cylinder. Around $35 at Rock Auto. I followed the Ford Service manual, and took a #2 phillips screw driver only and 45 minutes to do 1st time at...

Re: Noise on left turn

Hi bessie,

Please describe the noise a little more.

Could be loose lug nuts
or bad bearing (how many miles?)
or tire has low air pressure
or bad alignment
or bad lower ball joint (only lower, no upper)
or bad sway bar link
or bad strut mount bearing
or ?

More info will help.

Re: Shudder above 40mph!?!

Hi Wheelman, The pop could be: log nut loose noise caliper bolt loose or missing - I had a bolt come out and the caliper was held in place by the wheel wheel bearing bad - usually they last to around 90+K As the the 40+ miles per hour shudder: Above reasons apply wheel threw a weight and now out of ...

Starter does not always engage flywheel

It's been a while since I've had a problem with my 2005 Freestyle SEL front wheel drive. Current issue is I insert key in ignition and turn it to start engine. Often the starter (which is new) spins up but grinds on flywheel.....but interestingly if I turn the key to ON and put on my seat belt or do...

Re: Intermittent no start 06 freestyle

Hi all, Based upon what is stated, would suggest making sure battery cable connections are good and clean, air filter is clean, put in some fuel pump/injection cleaner (I like Lucas). Change fuel filter if it has been 30K miles. Further detail on vehicle condition would help like: how many miles, la...

Re: My gauges just went out!

Please do a search on the forum. I reported this issue and it was resolved by replacing the alternator. Brushes went out all of a sudden just like you describe. Good luck!

Re: no throttle

What does the message center show for errors?

When did you last have the cvt serviced? If it is a 1/2 quart low what you report will happen.

Re: help! CVT problems. need advice.

Hello, I would suggest you pickup a quart of CVT fluid at the dealer (around $13.00) and install 1/2 of a quart, because if you are down 1/2 the limp home mode can take place and tranmission & engine errors will display. Search on this for the procedure to add fluid, it is easy to do. I hope this fi...
