Re: Normal? Noise and Engine still revolves at cruising RPM

Does the noise perhaps change pitch or volume if you are turning one way or the other? It sure on the surface sounds like a bad wheel bearing.

Re: Front & Rear Brake Pads - What mileage did you get?

I do a lot of highway driving, so I get good life out of pads. On the 2007 Freestyle I had, I observed the following: Original rear pads: 49K; Replacement Advance Auto "gold" pads still had a LOT of life left when the car was sold @102K Original front pads: 74K; replacement Auto Zone "gold" pads wer...

Re: Time with my Freestyle drawing to a close..

Sold the freestyle today. Only took 2 weeks to sell, and Got $1k more than I was offered in trade... from another local car dealer that called on the craigslist ad  . So yes trade-in is low on these cars, but you can do better if you sell it yourself. Good luck to all and hope your Freestyles c...

Time with my Freestyle drawing to a close..

Well, I recently purchased a replacement for my trusty Freestyle and it is currently up for sale. I have been happy with the car and have no concerns with it failing anytime soon, but I have been wanting to get something with bluetooth, a backup camera, and a bit better towing capabilities to allow ...

Re: Mechatronics unit

Based on a couple other posts here, I would make sure that the wiring and high-flow filter are not causing the problem before I dropped money on the mechatronics.

Re: Potential New Freestyle owner, should I take the plunge?

I've had mine from about 17K till now 101K miles. I even tow with it, right up the the 2K limit. I have had not CVT issues, and actually the only repairs outside of routine maintenance were a wheel bearing and sway bar end links.

Re: Potential New Freestyle owner, should I take the plunge?

If the vehicle fits your needs, I'd buy it. The CVT is a reliable trans overall; according to consumer reports ratings, it is average to a bit above. That said, if it does fail it is expensive to repair. I'd buy the car if it fits your needs and the trans is working properly now. I paid about $400 t...

Re: New Guy / Imfamous Throttle Code

The fluid and high-flow filter are supposed to be changed at 60K and 120K. If you have no record of a recent fluid change, I would have it done. Make sure they use CVT fluid and you want just a drain and fill, not a flush.

Re: Friend's FS started growling under load/accel...

He just had the right front wheel hub replaced. Don't wheel bearings usually make noise all the time and not just under power? I would say usually they make noise all the time, but sometimes turning or changing the load on the wheel can make them noisier or quieter. One question though: Did the noi...

Re: Thinking of buying a freestyle

I have been very happy with our 07 limited. If it is in good condition, I would make sure the price is reasonable by checking Edmunds or similar sites. If you want to buy it, make sure the car is not making odd noises when idling in park. A tick-tick or helicopter noise is bad news as it means the t...

What was done to your car is awful. Here is an article that talks about the problem and how they are doing it these days. It sounds like it is relatively common. http://www.chicagotribune.com/classifie ... 4200.story

Re: Rear Defroster grid issue

I had a old Dodge do this, where you can physically see breaks in the lines. I bought this stuff, that was like nail polish that you painted over the lines with a given stencil. It worked, but never as well when working before the break, but better not at all I have the paint, but my issue is I can...

Re: Car starts but stalls immediatley need help!!!!

I don't think it did send me a code, but I'll check when I get off work. I was thinking it was either a sensor or I read somewhere cleaning the throttle body could help The throttle body is simple to clean and could cause all sorts of problems. Most times the dirty throttle body causes more problem...
