Re: Is it necessary to change the filter with CVT fluid chan

I haven't posted here in a quite some time, but wanted to say that my '05 Freebie is still running strong and had it's second CVT fluid and filter change a couple of months ago at 120K. It's never given me any tranny problems, I got a good one I reckon (knocking on wood). I'm actually thinking about...

Re: Best options when replacing throttle body

I replaced my TB myself a few years ago and didn't require a PCM reflash. However, I sill had a stalling issue a couple of times after that and saw that Ford had issued a TSB with updated software for the PCM. I had my local dealer do the PCM flash and all has been well ever since.

Re: FORD EXTENDS WARRANTY ON THROTTLE BODY

I'm happy to report that I received a reimbursement check today for the throttle body I had replaced myself a couple of years ago and a firmware flash back in November to finally fix the issue. A total of $474.21. I'm glad to see Ford stepping up finally on an 8 year old car. It has restored my fait...

Re: FORD EXTENDS WARRANTY ON THROTTLE BODY

Got my letter today. I have already replaced the TB and had the PCM reprogrammed a couple of months ago, I wonder if Ford will reimburse me any of those expenses. I'll report back when I find out.

Re: Anyone elses button fall off of their dash compartment?

My hinges broke too about two years ago. As I recall, I epoxied the pieces back together and added some thin aluminum on either side of the hinge and screwed them down use some small screws I had laying around, no problems since.

Re: auto unlock?

If you are so inclined, you can build a quick and dirty circuit for less than $10 or so in parts that will accomplish this. I've got the parts for mine already, just haven't assembled and installed it yet.

Re: Bumper/Window sticker for this site?

What I do is cut lettering and graphics from vinyl, then apply transfer tape to the finished graphic which is used to apply the graphic to the substrate. So, long story short, you would have the lettering and vehicle outline in white vinyl on the window and nothing else. This particular graphic migh...

Re: Bumper/Window sticker for this site?

I kinda forgot about this until someone posted a link to it in another thread. I've been busy with a new position at work and expanding my home graphics business to nclude custom apparel as well. If we come up with a cool window graphic, I could potentially do something with t-shirts too, but I don'...

Re: A great replacement for front Speakers

I got the SE85s installed yesterday afternoon. It took about an hour, maybe a few minutes longer. The only error I found in the master sheet from Crutchfield was the size of the socket needed to remove the screws in the door pull cups, it states 9/32" but it's really a 3/32" hex head screw. Not a bi...

Re: A great replacement for front Speakers

I ordered two pair of them based on your recommendation. They shipped this evening and should be delivered Friday (free shipping even).

If anyone wants to order some for their Freebie, PM me for a referral and save $20 on the order!

Check Crutchfield.com, they have the Se85s for $55/pair with free shipping. I've been thinking about upgrading my speakers too, this might be the ticket.

Maybe it's the datalink connection. I'd guess that's for the speed sensitive volume control.

Re: advise sought: best brake pads for the Freestyle?

I just searched RockAuto and they list different parts numbers for Motorcraft pads for Freestyles vs. Explorers vs. Escapes, so I'd say no go on that.

Re: advise sought: best brake pads for the Freestyle?

Although I didn't buy Akebono pads for my Freebie, I've used them on a Mercedes and I can say they were great pads for that application. I didn't have time to wait on the Akebono's when I did the brakes last, went with the Advance Auto Parts Gold pads and I've been happy with them.

Re: Need some help - looking at used 2005 AWD SEL

The CVT should have been serviced twice by now, hopefully there is proof of the service. If they don't have proof, I'd advise having the CVT service done ASAP by a qualified Ford CVT service tech, or yourself if you're handy. I did mine, it wasn't rocket science. Go to this post of for a good list o...
