signing off, goodbye

Well my time as a freestyle owner is over. I will check in from time to time. After 9 years I have sold my freebe for parts. The tranny finally died and I just did not want to spend the money to fix it. Overall I am very pleased with the car. It did have a few problems but hey, what car does not. Bo...

Can Bus not tranny

Well now I have the full story. Something went wrong with the Can bus (no idea what that is) and the instrument cluster, Tranny, PCM, TCM, O2 sensor quit working resulting in complete tranny failure and engine running like crap. Brother said that was a good thing because it was not the tranny. He ch...

Re: CVT finally on its way out

Africa_FS_07 1 I don’t know exactly what he did. He put it on the lift, got an air wrench and I walked away. He was under there about an hour. 2. I did not think of that. I will ask that. 3. Well now. That’s the Jennie in the bottle there! No way to know for sure. I think it gave me everything it wa...

CVT finally on its way out

Well it is finally happening. My tranny is slamming into and out of gear. My brother tried to explain to me why but I did not understand. The car still drives ok once in gear but it time is limited. He said I should by a new one from ford 5,000 or buy a used one. He said that rebuild is not logical ...

Re: close call !

Hey, why worry about a tranny when you can just burn the whole car up at once!

Glad all is ok

Probably tripped this relay, sort of like a self resetting fuse.

Re: 200,500 miles NOW, No single CVT Fluid & H.P. Filter cha

Well I did it. 210,000 mile and we just replaced the high pressure and pan filter and fluid. High pressure appeared to be complety clogged. Pan filter was almost clean but the gasket at the top of the tube had almost deteriated. Very cracked. Yes the tranny is MUCH smother now. I had not noticed the...

No instrument cluster or flashers all else works

Hi, Parked the car last night. All was well. This morning nothing on the instrument cluster works, the a/c, or the turn signals or 4 way flashers. My brother (that owns the car repair store) got 12 stiches yesterday while milling a head (not sure what that is). Asked for advise and he said "take thr...

New Paint Job

Hi, I want to start my restoration project of my 2005 freestyle. Mechinally fine but cosmetically trashed to H____! Should I start with the inside or outside? I have removed the rear seat and will soon be removing the middle ones. Removed all interior carpet and padding. (disabled kids, nough said) ...

cvt at 200500 still going true blessing

Hi, I used to post here a lot. Had (small) heart attack, and (small) stroke combo, wow For the Dr. info. neither one is small if they are in you. If you search back you will find that I have been a member here since I bought the car in July. 2005. Years ago the Ford dealers had no Idea how to servic...

Motor Mounts at 200500 miles.

Just had my brother replace all motor mounts. He owns an auto repair shop. Not a job for the mechanically challenged. My freebie has taken a beating over the years but has been a great ride. 200000 and still going strong.
