Re: Help me please. TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS AND DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO

It sounds like you let the noise go so long that you have bearing, shafts, and possibly races damaged now. I'm all for the DIY, and I just completed a rebuild myself. This job is not for the faint of heart. You'll need to start with a rebuild kit - Those go for about $350, and will include all the s...

Re: Rebuilt CVT - "CHECK TRANSMISSION" - What did I mess up?

Just a quick follow-up, after a test drive a couple miles down the road and back, NO TCM codes! Everything seems to be running fine, aside from a harsh jerk when shifting from Reverse to Drive. I still need to perform the CVT drive cycle re-lean process and doublecheck the fluid level after the test...

Re: Rebuilt CVT - "CHECK TRANSMISSION" - What did I mess up?

On a whim, I opened up my disassembly guide - ' CVT Disassemble.pdf ' - and on it, it referenced a Secondary Feed Tube Snap Ring . secondary_feed_tube_snapring.jpg I remembered when I reassembled my CFT30, I had a snap ring left over. I scoured over the entire case and shafts, and could not find a l...

Re: Rebuilt CVT - "CHECK TRANSMISSION" - What did I mess up?

suspicions confirmed: Replacement O-Ring blown out as well. I made 100% sure the O-Ring was well-lubricated and seated correctly when installing the cover. Now for the hard part. Why is this O-Ring blowing out? Incorrect size/material? The rebuild kit I purchased did not have a guide for which O-Rin...

Re: Rebuilt CVT - "CHECK TRANSMISSION" - What did I mess up?

Dropped the transmission again. On a whim, I opened the secondary variator cover, as that's where the hissing noise was coming from. Found the O-Ring at the base of the cover split in half. Replaced O-Ring, reassembled transmission, reinstalled. NOT MY IMAGE - STOCK IMAGE IS OF A BROKEN COVER images...

Rebuilt CVT - "CHECK TRANSMISSION" - What did I mess up?

Rebuilt CVT myself. New seals. New clutch frictions. Replaced Input Shaft (Planetary). Replaced Drive Pulley. Replaced all gaskets. Engine starts and idles great, but jerks harshly when placed in gear. Took for a quick test drive, and feels like a clutch is slipping, engine RPMs go up with very slow...

Re: Freestyle CVT Repair In Progress

Removed and cleaned the valve body THOROUGHLY. Verified all valves slide freely, no debris in the valve body. Doublechecked seals on solenoids, both seals for each solenoid "engages" snugly to the valve body. Cleaned contacts on solenoids. Replaced Mechatronics assembly and refilled trans with fluid...

CVT Torque Converter lockup test

Trying to diagnose after CVT rebuild. When trans os placed in gear, engine lurches and stalls like a manual with a newbie at the wheel. With the rear driveshaft removed and the front wheels off the ground (and foot OFF the brake), the engine doesnt die immediately after placed in gear, but will lurc...

Re: Freestyle CVT Repair In Progress

Rebuild is finished, but still having an issue. Engine starts and idles flawlessly. Fluids topped off. Foot on the brake, shift out of park. Instantly hear a "thump", and engine stops, just like dumping a clutch at idle. Shift to Neutral, crank engine back up. Shift to Drive, same thing - engine jer...

Re: The Dreaded CVT

Helicopter noise is a sign of damaged bearings around the input shaft. There are 3 bearings to check, all of which require complete dissasembly to inspect. The root cause for the bearing failure is not certain. Some say the OEM torque convertor has a design flaw where the input shaft piloting surfac...

Re: Freestyle CVT Repair In Progress

Found a video explaining common problems and causes.

https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=you ... 5KYAV19RpE

These guys suggest a design flaw in the torque convertor is causing the input shaft o-ring failures.
