Re: Freestyle member moving on

Durango? Wow you're going to be filling up a lot more often :P Not to much more. Never really ever got over 17 in the Freestyle driving around my home. Window sticker on that Freestyle back in 2005 was 19 MPG for AWD. I get the posted MPG ratings with my other three cars. I should be enjoying about...

Re: Freestyle member moving on

I must have a thing about buying cars with newly developed transmissions. Always was looking for that extra MPG.

Freestyle member moving on

I have been part of a Freestyle and this forum for almost 9 years . I posted more on this site when the car was new, not so much recently. I just recently sold my Freestyle as I was original owner. Just wanted to say before I sign off that I thought it was a well constructed vehicle. It had its shar...

PARKING BRAKE CABLE

Has anybody tried to order parking brake cables for the Freestyle? The parking brake cable system consists of three cables (in addition to the cable coming from the parking pedal control assembly), because it was designed by a moron. Ford, "Because they had a beter idea" does not make replacement pa...

Re: Left Rear Brake Caliper seems to be leaking, sporadicall

I searched the forum for a procedure to replace the rear calipers and didn't find a recent article so I thought I'd post one here. 1) Lift the rear of the vehicle. Remove the rear wheels. 2) Remove the return spring behind the caliper, towards the front of the axle. This is NOT the spring on the eme...

Re: Left Rear Brake Caliper seems to be leaking, sporadicall

Can anybody provide documentation on the proper steps to remove the caliper? Not on how to retract the piston, I have done that before. I'm look for the sequence of disconnection to take the caliper off the vehicle, including Emer brake and fluid hoses.

Has anybody had this with theiir Freestyle

What are the symptoms of a clogged CVT filter? I noticed my Freestyle running at a higher RPMs and the tach not coming down when coasting. I noticed about a 2-3MPG drop in fuel mileage also. Sometimes it goes back to normal after running this way for a week or so. It has been doing this off and on f...

Left Rear Brake Caliper seems to be leaking, sporadically

Has anybody seen this? I noticed fluid on the garage floor after I backed my 2005 freestyle out. It was under the left rear wheel and about the size of dollar bill. I pulled the tire / wheel and there is a 13 mm bolt head on the back of the caliper that appears to relieve tension for the parking bra...

Re: "Failsafe mode" & "Check Engine" light

Folks, I spent the past 15 minutes of my life reading all these posts in this issue. There seems to be some concern over Ford not covering this issue under warrranty or providing a re-enginerred throttle body. The truth is that this issue is not isolated to the Freestyle. I had a Nissan Quest where ...

Re: 2006 Freestyle Limited tire and alignment issues

I have a 2005 Freestyle and have posted my woes here before. I have about 38,000 miles on my Freestyle and have had three sets of tires on the car to date. I will be ready for another set in about 4000 miles. I have had this car aligned probably 7 times since I bought it new. I would think I had one...

Re: new owner

I agree that 'the piston' should always be turned towards the back of the vehicle. Consider the rear left hand side, you are facing the wheel well and the front of the piston caliper is facing you. Place the tool over the piston face and rotate the ratchet clockwise. The top of the piston is moving ...

Re: New Taurus X -- Aftermarket Parking Assist?

I would bet that Ford dealer would not install a class III hitch on your freestyle. You may have to go to an aftermarket shop. I realize you do not want to use the hitch for towing, but a Class III will allow towing over the maximum capacity of the CVT transmission. I am assuming the Taurus X still ...

Re: FREESTYLE LIMITED MEMORY SEATS

I figured it out, here is the procedure for syncing the memory seats to the KEY FOB. I added steps 2b and 6b to the procedure in the owners manual. Have all remote transmitters (FOB) available, you will need to reprogram them all. Set memory seat options (1 and 2) to where they are supposed to be fo...
