Re: Brake job Write-up and pictures

Thanks to everyone here, I managed to get through a rear brake job relatively unscathed. I managed to also get a few more pictures that may be helpful: perhaps a slighlty better picture of the arrow on the piston housing that shows what direction to turn the cylinder inward. Be prepared, it's a fine...

Re: Throttle Body problem

I recently had a noise problem with my daughters Taurus where it sounded so bad I thought the rear wheel bearing was going bad. I rotated the tires and that noise followed that same tire wherever I put it. I do slightly hear the CVT chain on occasion. And a coolant hose to the throttle body is actua...

Leaky Moonroof

We started having problems with a minimal amount of water around the inner liner of the moon roof. The problem wasn't bad enough where it had to go right in, but I waited 'til the next service to have it checked. It was initially thought that the two main drain tubes at the front of the car had clog...

Re: Buttons Reversed?

Big Buck, A simple possible solution: disconnect the battery for just a few seconds to clear out all the "electronic" problems? An automotive "Excorcism"? It could also be something like the clock spring in the steering wheel making little or backwards contact? How's the cruise control working and A...

Catalytic Converter Noise

My exhaust started rattling at idle on and off (23K). During my last servicing, Ford checked it out and said the Cat was bad. It was fully covered and replaced. My question is, anyone else have this problem. It seems the welds that hold the cat in place didn't quite hold and I remember Fords of the ...

Re: oil change reminder

As far as engine oil itself, it's been said that Pennsylvania oils contain less parafin, I think you have this exactly backwards! See the second paragraph on this page: Hey Jaunty, Backwards is an understatement and old age memory loss and confusion is taking me over! I was thinking asphalt and mai...

Re: Rear Brake Recall #07N10?

Here's what I've gathered from this recall: the rear rotors and pads are different from the front. Apparently, and don't quote me, the rear pads were manufactured in a different factory than the fronts. I don't know if they got wet, were stored in a bad place or just plain sat around too long..........

Re: Very pleased with our vacation MPG!

Ok, last year on a trip to NC from NY I got great mileage as well. '07 Limited FWD avg speed, a sane 70-75MPH. 27.1 MPG going down. 29.6 MPG coming back. I thought that the return trip mileage was a bit too good. Just came back from the same trip. 26.9 MPG going down 29.1 MPG coming back I can't bel...

Re: oil change reminder

I just brought my Freestyle in for it's servicing. The last time in, they forgot to reset the "Oil Life" display, but the dealer told me it's based on miles. I'm assuming it's reset thru the OBD-II computer? Oil viscosity: I own a 1996 Chrysler Town & Country and Chrysler recommended 5W-20 as well. ...

Re: Gas Cap - COME ONE FORD

I don't know where everyone else's gas cap strap is, but mine goes OVER the gas cap and not underneath as you would expect! During several "Full Service" fill-ups, the attendant got the cord stuck in the cap throat creating a "Check Engine" condition. Now I know how easy that is to correct. A redesi...

Re: Gas Gauge Phenomena.

I’ve had Tauruses and Sable’s whose fuel gauges do the same thing; takes a while to show the proper fuel level. Also, the fuel tank has baffles in it to minimize “sloshing” so the segmented areas of the tank stay somewhat equalized during motion. I would imagine that also slows the equalization of t...

Re: Frustrated with Pirelli P6's

Could it be a combonation of 3 things? Treadwear rating Alignment Proper inflation I have Bridgestone Turanzas and I think their treadwear is in the 580-600 range. Others may be as low as 200 and up to 450? Low wear ratings projects increased "stickyness"? Cupping may just be over-inflation. I've fo...

Re: Clinging Exhaust Gas

The reason I brought this up was because the car that my Freebie replaced was a 1996 T&C minivan. I never saw this on the minivan and it has no deflector. What the van did have is a turned down exhaust tip, so that sounds correct. I wonder if the Volvo has the same quirk since it is very similar? No...

Clinging Exhaust Gas

I’ve noticed on cold days that in general, weather conditions not withstanding, that the exhaust tends to stick to the rear hatch in the “dead zone” while driving along. I’ve also noticed that on my ’07 Limited FWD that the exhaust tips don’t extend past the rear bumper but actually end under the bu...

Re: What cars did we get rid of to get our Freestyles!!!

I garaged my 1996 Chrysler T&C. It's got close to 200K and just about everything went bad except the engine. Go figure!
"Real creampuff, every offer considered."

I have every intnetion of owning and driving my '07 Red LTD Freestyle for just as long.
