Re: Chrome bubbles on grille.

I noticed several bubbles in my grille today, and I'm pretty sure they weren't there two weeks ago. Something else on the list for the next service.

Re: Tie Down Kayak on TX 08

I've looked all over the liftgate area to see if there was a suitably strong looking fastener to use with a hood strap - no such luck. When I installed the trailer hitch - it's not as easy as they make it sound, halfway through I would have gladly paid $100 except that I felt challenged - I had to c...

Re: Tie Down Kayak on TX 08

Man, I wish I'd read this earlier! I just took the kayak off the car. Anyway, I installed a trailer hitch, so at the rear I use the loops for the safety chain to secure the rear of the kayak. On the front I use hood loops (or hood straps). I found them on the internet for $6.00 a pair, and once I sa...

Re: X - Roof Rack Cross Bars

To make the assembly easier, I used some rigid foam - pieces cut from some water pipe insulation - stuffed in the track to hold the nut plates and such in place long enough to get the screw started. You can actually drop the hardware in the track, start the screw, lift the nut plate up with the scre...

Re: Electrical Issues - '08 TX Unlimited

The dealer replaced the Turbine Shaft Speed Sensor and the Engine Speed Sensor Assy, and it seems to be working. But I'd be interested to know if anyone else has similar issues and how they were resolved.

Re: Electrical Issues - '08 TX Unlimited

I just left mine (2008 TX Ltd AWD) with the dealer to investigate an occurence which included - erratic transmission behavior accompanied by various faulty dash lights (low fuel, wrench, air bag, and tire inflation fault all lit) and non-working spedometer. Turned it off, restarted a few minutes lat...

Re: X - Roof Rack Cross Bars

First - I put the nut plate in a vise with about 1/8" exposed, and used a cold chisel and a 2-lb hammer, putting the edge of the chisel near the edge of the nut plate. It moved fairly easily. Then I just turned it over and, as the saying goes "hit it again!". The washer is a little loose in the slot...

Re: X - Roof Rack Cross Bars

Here's a variation - with a tip 'o the hat to Larry for the inspiration - I used some faucet washers instead of the "A" nut plate. A 3/8 L just about fills the slot, but the 3/8 M (or 3/8 R) would do. In fact, they might be better. I really need to be able to cock the landing pad a little more to ma...
