Re: CD Player Skips / Bad Disk Error

Periodically have this problem, more often with manufactured CDs than my recorded (hp) CDs. Sometimes, have the problem with individual tracks, but most tracks play fine beyond problem track, which indicates a manufacturer defect. Got a GE Blu-ray/DVD Laser Lens Cleaner at Wal-Mart a while back that...

Re: Average mpg dropped by 4? HELP

Hope you are right about the winter gas. Just replaced my Michelen Hydroedge tires (after 62,000 miles) with Cooper CS5 Touring and my mileage has DROPPED BY 20-25%! My 'Style has 96,000 plus miles and have NEVER had a sudden drop like this before. Anyone have similar problems with new tires?

Re: The Freestyle is the best vehicle ever, Period!

Our previous two vehicles were Tauruses (1998,2002). When we moved to the country, figured that a more versatile vehicle was needed to haul "stuff". Have hauled lumber, firewood, mulch, furniture, TVs, my new grill, grandkids, and lots more (not all at the same time!). Great handling, ride, and mile...

Re: FORD EXTENDS WARRANTY ON THROTTLE BODY

My mileage had taken a dive over the last couple of months. Also noticed a periodic gasoline smell when starting in my garage. Took my 'Style and my letter back to the dealer today at approximately 75,000 miles. Also got the oil changed (old school: every 3,000 miles) and used a dealer coupon for fu...

Re: FORD EXTENDS WARRANTY ON THROTTLE BODY

Only experienced strong surge problem when using a fuel injector cleaner additive. Discontinued, but have recently getting poor mileage and gasoline smell upon starting. Was going to call my dealer to have fuel filter changed anyway. Hope the throttle body service offered can cover a big part of get...

A Little Good News About My 'Style

Just wanted to brag a little about my Freestyle's performance during the current heatwave. On a recent trip to the Chicago area, with high temps between 95 and 100 degrees, I got an average of 24.4 mpg over 400 miles with the air cranking. That's combined city/highway. Coming home on I-80, 100 degre...

Re: A slightly different CVT Poll

Just under 63,000 miles. CVT fluid change within last month. Dealer said pressure filter change would require dropping trans, so not performed. So far, so good. I guess we'll see.

Re: Is it necessary to change the filter with CVT fluid chan

Went back to my dealer last week for CVT service. They did the drain and fill but said that the pressure filter change was not necessary as it would require dropping the trans. Price: $143.00. So far, noticed the cruising RPMs (at 60 mph) seem to be running slightly lower (1500, from 1600). Otherwis...

Re: Consumer Reports says Ford's quality is slipping

My daughter and son-in-law bought a 2008 Camry last year. She used it to drive to work until repeated power surges scared them into dumping it two months later. They now own a 2009 Explorer and a 2010 Chevy Suburban. No problems with the Ford nor the Gov't Motors product.

Just remember CR was still singing Toyota's praises while their kamikaze cars were killing people. More like Consumer Distorts.

Been VERY pleased with my Michelen Hydroedge tires for the last year plus. First Michelens that I have owned but like Neil Diamond, "I'm a Believer".

Re: Fuel economy sweet spot and the CVT

Gave my 'Style a bath (wash) today and it responded with 31.5 mpg on the way home (57-58 mph on a 55mph limit road). Is it me or does a clean car get better mileage?

Re: Good MPG

On the interstate, cruising at 68-70 mph, we get 26-28 mpg per the computer. On two-lane country roads (most of our driving), with cruise set between 55 and 60 mph, the machine often says 30 to 32 mpg. These days, that's VERY sweet! :D

Re: JUST IN - Consumer Reports reliability

I'm not a fan of Consumer Distorts (been burned before). That said, am impressed with these ratings, especially the above average for the CVT equipped 'Styles.
