Re: Freestyle eats brakes?

Second set of rotors at 50k. Still going strong at 93k. Second set of front pads too. Make sure they are ceramic and glue them with the proper brake pad coatng when installing. My fronts are about 50% worn now. On my second set of rear rotors installed at 80k and third set of rear pads.

Re: Looking at a 2005 - have a couple newbie questions

Honestly, I would avoid it. If I had not had tranny troubles, I would say go for it. They only made it 3 years for a reason and the cost to fix can be more than the car is worth. As much as my wife loves Hers and we have had it for 5 reliable years (until Feb of this year) and now plan on having for...

Re: Trans Whine

If anyone wants to buy the tranny tools, I have them all. I will not be needing them as I had my bearing done at a shop. I have every "special" cft30 tool in the Ford suitcases. I think 5 or 7 kits all together. Looking at the manual, I do not know if you can build it without them. There is are some...

Good deal on news sneakers, tires that is...

Been shopping for tires. Based on dollar per mileage warranty (65,000) the best buy was the Bridgestone Ecopia 422 from walmart. Now with a $70. Rebate through 4/30. Anyway 4 mounted and lifetime balance for just over $510 out the door. With rebate, $440. Anyway, cost per warranty mile is $.00147. T...

Search my name for heated seat installation. There are photos for you. Be carefull, there is an airbag and I would not mess with it.

Re: Well, I guess it's the input shaft, all repaired.

$1375 out the door. So not terribly bad. Glad I got it there early. Again the mechanic states when you let it go a while, it gets a lot more expensive. He said the way to tell how bad it is, is the noise. If it does it in Park and Neutral, its the bearing and/or shaft (shaft is $700 more than I paid...

Re: Well, I guess it's the input shaft Update!

The shop just called. Shaft and internals look good. Input shaft is still perfect. Bearing on the end near the clutches is toast. $18.00 part. Also, o ring on the end of the converter shaft was missing. Rest of the tranny is like new. So shop says they can replace the shaft, but it will just fail ag...

Yup, Issued in June of 06, 6/12 of 2006 to be exact. I do not know when the new 07 models came out but isn't it typically August or September of the year before or earlier?

Re: Anyone think the Class Action Tranny thing will catch on

Wow, it looks like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. My new CVT came out of a 2007 FS with 21K miles on it and since then we've accumulated another 30K. So my dilemma is should I blindly cling to the statistical supposition that Jack Watts and others espouse here and feel there is safety i...

Here is a link http://gotaclassaction.com/ford-named-in-class-action-over-defects-in-the-continuously-variable-transmissions-of-the-freestyle-and-mercury-montego/ 72 people with failures so far noted in 124 days since the action was filed. 7 in the last 3 days so it is catching on rapidly. After rea...

Anyone think the Class Action Tranny thing will catch on?

It took a while, but the throttle body issue finally made it. Looking at the complaints online, there are many folks with CVT failures. I signed up for a class action if it does any good.

Re: Well, I guess it's the input shaft

So two options. The good news is the input shaft and bearings are in supply again ( I found a Ford Dealer with it in stock and the tranny shop said they can get them). The bad news, if the rear input shaft bearing has scored the Variator Clutch where it rides, that is just too expensive to swap (as ...
