Re: No more Freestyle

Whoa, you are an old-timer here. OK then. I know Hyundai has really ramped up their game in the last 10 years, I think Kia too since it's the same company. I don't have any Kia forums so good luck ;)

Re: 05 Freestyle dash cluster quit but all dash lights are illuminated

$235... a little steep. Considering there is no recalibration, all they have to do is repair some solder points and test it. If you have a real electronics wizard where you live such as a guy that installs remote start systems etc. he may be able to fix it for less. I know a guy who is a total wizar...

Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle limited oil change frequency

If you're using a Motorcraft oil filter you shouldn't need to mess around with changing the filter at the halfway mark. You could potentially go way past 7,000 miles but you would want to do an oil analysis such as https://www.blackstone-labs.com/tests/standard-analysis/ to tell you how much life is...

Re: Stalling

P0171 & P0174 are system lean codes, there are multiple threads here on that. It would have to be a pretty huge vacuum leak to cause stalling, I'd say.

Re: Stalling

Have you scanned for diagnostic codes? I would check fuel pressure next.

Yes, reset it at the next oil change.

Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle limited oil change frequency

You should focus on the actual miles driven since the last change. Do not rely on the electronic readout at this point.

Re: 2005 Ford Freestyle limited oil change frequency

How many miles have you put on since the last oil change? The owners guide calls for 5,000 mile intervals. Was the oil life monitor reset at the last oil change? See https://www.myfordfreestyle.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3356 - if it was not reset when the oil was changed the message you see now may...

Re: Might be coming up on time to move on

Have you scanned for trouble codes? I would still AT-205 the engine, it could slow the leak down. Just make sure to check the oil monthly and top it up as needed and you will probably be fine for now. If you've otherwise taken good care of the car I'd recommend you keep it. If you decide to sell it,...

Re: Might be coming up on time to move on

Has it been a while since the car has been to the mechanic? Those things aren't really things that suddenly fail. Given your situation, I would prioritize the repairs and DIY everything possible. 1. For about $11 you can replace the upper engine mount - https://amzn.to/21eHWAD - start with the top o...

Can you find a dirt/gravel road and do some hard stops to kick in ABS that way?

The BlueDriver is the best IMHO, I have it and I’ve used a number of scan tools over the years, it’s the best I’ve used, especially for that price point! https://www.amazon.com/BlueDriver-Bluet ... B00652G4TS
