Re: Ford remote starter uninstall / reinstall
I don't think it's worth the effort to take it out and put it in another vehicle. Technology changes too so just putting a new one in another vehicle you get is probably going to be cheaper and better. If you go with a newer Flex/Explorer it may have it built-in also.

Repairing what you have is most likely the much cheaper option.

Re: to keep or not? 2005 Ford Freestyle SE 65,775 miles
I recently had some cracking that was peeling off in the rear wheel wells , I went to my local body shop and for a reasonable price they re-sprayed undercoating also did the underside by the rear suspension. Well worth doing especially if you life with cold weather and salty roads. No, it’s actuall...

If the undercoating is a rubber based product, stay away, stay far away. It will destroy your vehicle far worse than if you had done nothing. Hopefully it's an oil-wax based product.

Re: to keep or not? 2005 Ford Freestyle SE 65,775 miles
Ford doesn’t build them like that anymore. If you like it and are willing to keep it, do that. Repairs typically are a lot cheaper than buying a new car. I think you’d find the value of your car surprisingly low due to its age, even with the low mileage.

The engine looks very clean under the valve cover, I bet someone used full synthetic oil in that engine!!

Hi, it’s a resonator used to make the air intake quieter. It’s more technically called a Helmholtz resonator I believe. See https://duckduckgo.com/?q=air+intake+re ... ltz&ia=web

Did you use a known good scan tool that has read the codes on your car before? It's possible the code is not in history.

Whoa, you are an old-timer here. OK then. I know Hyundai has really ramped up their game in the last 10 years, I think Kia too since it's the same company. I don't have any Kia forums so good luck

Re: 05 Freestyle dash cluster quit but all dash lights are illuminated
$235... a little steep. Considering there is no recalibration, all they have to do is repair some solder points and test it. If you have a real electronics wizard where you live such as a guy that installs remote start systems etc. he may be able to fix it for less. I know a guy who is a total wizar...
