Re: Might be coming up on time to move on

Have you scanned for trouble codes? I would still AT-205 the engine, it could slow the leak down. Just make sure to check the oil monthly and top it up as needed and you will probably be fine for now. If you've otherwise taken good care of the car I'd recommend you keep it. If you decide to sell it,...

Re: Might be coming up on time to move on

Has it been a while since the car has been to the mechanic? Those things aren't really things that suddenly fail. Given your situation, I would prioritize the repairs and DIY everything possible. 1. For about $11 you can replace the upper engine mount - https://amzn.to/21eHWAD - start with the top o...

Can you find a dirt/gravel road and do some hard stops to kick in ABS that way?

The BlueDriver is the best IMHO, I have it and I’ve used a number of scan tools over the years, it’s the best I’ve used, especially for that price point! https://www.amazon.com/BlueDriver-Bluet ... B00652G4TS

Great! I encourage you to ask friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, the mailman etc. for recommendations to find a new mechanic who is highly rated... just in case.

Re: 2006 freestyle with 87000 miles, WONT START

It is strange that you have no fuel pressure yet are managing to flood the engine, that doesn’t totally make sense. I suspect the vehicle has had multiple issues and that’s par for the course on an oldish Ford. I’d say you either need to let the dealer replace the pump or get it to another shop for ...

Re: 2006 freestyle with 87000 miles, WONT START

Do you have any diagnostic codes? I have no idea what a dobbs is.

So did the throttle body actually fix the car's starting problems for a while? Did they actually diagnose the fuel pump as bad or are they guessing?

Re: 2006 freestyle with 87000 miles, WONT START

I would say you need to find a better mechanic, first off. Is this a Ford dealership that you've been taking the car to?

How are you flooding it? Are you touching the gas pedal while you try to start it? Don't touch the gas pedal, it's not necessary.

Good luck.

Re: 2006 freestyle with 87000 miles, WONT START

Why are you desperately asking for help on the Internet when you have a dealership mechanic that looked at it and suggested a fix? Did they actually diagnose the fuel pump as bad? We need more details. You need fuel, spark, and air for the vehicle to start. I'm guessing you don't have the skills to ...
