Re: What's your MPG?

My average is about 22MPG, I used to get about 25-26MPG on some highway trips and about 19-20mpg in the city. In December when we had temperatures in -20-25C and lots of snow and ice I got only about 17-18MPG average.

Re: Freestyle -> Taurus X -> Explorer

I think you are missing the original point. The Explorer (it is believed) will be to the TX what the TX was to the Freestyle. It will live on, just not in name. I thought it will be more like Explorer - I mean high ground clearance, big SUV/gas shark. If it will be more like TX I do not mind what n...

Re: Freestyle -> Taurus X -> Explorer

I am driving TX for 1 year and 3 month ( 36.000 km ) and couldn't be happier - except the lack of proper cross bars. I am a bit disappointed that Ford is not planning to produce TX's in the future with eco boost engine that would be a perfect match. I do like Flex though, so in the future probably w...

Re: Winter Tire recomendations

well, I got Good Year Nordics for 134$ each and I think these are best price per quality tires you can find at least here in Canada. I agree that Blizzaks may be better and cetrainly Nokian's are the best but they cost so much more that from set of 4 tires it makes quite a bit of the difference. And...

Easy there :wink: I know perfectly where it originated. I just suggested to call it American because it looks like it is used at present time only in US.

Re: 500 klms to tank

I usualy get 580-600km with TX before low gas warning lights up and I drive in the city and highway 50/50 This is what you would expect. The TX has a larger engine than the FS and has a correspondingly lower mileage rating. It's rated at 16 mpg city/24 highway, whereas the Freestyle's numbers are 2...

That is really bad... I usualy get 580-600km with TX before low gas warning lights up and I drive in the city and highway 50/50.
Is it AWD?

Re: fuel ecomomy ????

And thats why U.S. should join rest of the world and start using metric system It is? I can think of a few reasons why the U.S. might want to switch to the metric system, but this isn't one of them. I think that people in countries that use the metric system make just as many math errors as those t...

Re: CVT Kaput

AK47, I was thinking of the hybrid version, which is a great hybrid, as those go. Also, the new Escape 4-cylinder has a large 4-cylinder and 6-speed available, which gets 10% better fuel economy as my '05 Freestyle. The big gains are with the hybrid, as it gets 25% better MPG than my Freestyle. why...

Re: 2 questions (thinking about buying a used Freestyle)

AWD you never go back - predictable handling and stoping in all conditions - very well balanced - excellent stability. Just my 2 cents: AWD vs FWD doesn't have any difference in stoping;). I drive FWD in Calgary where we get lots of snow and with TX stability and traction control had no problems du...

Re: CVT Kaput

In case you haven't noticed, with gas prices so high, some people want to downsize into something that still has good crash test ratings, hence a Ford Escape is a good alternative now, plenty of room for most people. But Escape/Edge is not getting any better MPG then Freestyle/TX so whats the point...

new 7 passenger from Lincoln

Looks like it will be a lot like Flex inside but much different outside. So for those who do not like Flex boxy looks it may be a good alternative. I wonder what MPG it will get with Eco-Boost...
