Re: Getting New Battery Today

Well, after five years and 55,000 miles, the Freestyle has started getting reluctant to crank and the green "eye" is now a pale orange so I'm going to replace the battery today. I checked around and the Motorcraft Max looks like my best choice. It's $109 from the dealer and that includes 36-month f...

It's funny, because I just had the same thought about you.
Well considering I actually OWN a Freestyle, unlike you, it makes sense that I am on this forum. :P

To Jaunty: " was a freakin' joke, OK? Get a sense of humor. I think the original poster took the comment in the spirit in which it was intended. Why don't you learn to as well ?" So you like to poke people in the eye, eh? Not very funny but very clownish. I'm still trying to figure out why jaunty75...

If you held your neck while you exited your vehicle after the rear end crash you could afford any car you wanted.

Re: Brake job Write-up and pictures

Great write up. I rented the smaller tool set from O'Reillys (free) and was able to do both sides fairly easy. ... That is similar to the free tool rental that Advance Auto offers in my area that can only do one side. It is not the correct tool for the job. When I asked the folks at Advance if thei...

Re: Brake job Write-up and pictures

Great write up.

I rented the smaller tool set from O'Reillys (free) and was able to do both sides fairly easy. See my explanation above.

Since I will probably only be performing this brake job maybe every 4 years I didn't want to waste on a tool that would just take up space in my garage.

Re: any tips for replacing a battery?

All good tips. Depending on your location, most Advance Auto, Autozone, O'Reilly's type places will install the battery for you and have a backup battery to plug into your OBDII Connector to save your settings. Either way, you'll probably need a wire brush to scrape off the corrosion on the battery...

Re: any tips for replacing a battery?

When I replace a car battery I disconnect the positive side first in case the negative cable comes in contact with the car frame. Also I use the battery terminal protection kits on the new battery terminals that can be bought where you buy the batteries. While you have the old battery out clean out ...

Re: The Style Is gone!!!

The pitfalls of buying used rear their ugly head once again. I know that many people swear by it, and for some the only way to get into a vehicle like the Freestyle is to go the used route. But, with a used car, you never know why the previous owner traded it. I got my FS for about 18K less than th...

Re: Best Price on CVT Fluid

Under the hood is a sticker that says "Transmission Serviced 69,381", but I cannot confirm that No one has asked the obvious question. Why would somebody put a sticker like this under the hood if it wasn't true? Why do you suspect that this sticker is a lie? Is there anything about it that looks "o...

Re: The Style Is gone!!!

Yes, Jerome. You should have told the dealer about the problems of your Freestyle so that your trade-in value would have been lower. naughty. naughty! I hope you drive your Honda with the guilt that someone else is driving your death trap. I'm sure jaunty is feeling the same way after he got r...

Re: Buy or not to buy a Freestyle

I was ready to buy a Freestyle until I read all this information about the transmissions surging and throttle bodies going out. Is it really that big of a problem? I am worried that I'll end up buying a used one for $8,000 then have to put a new transmission in it months later. Are there transmissi...
