Re: Piece of junk

boondoggle, Let's look at this differently.. Your Freestyle is nine and a half years old. Maintenance issues are to be expected of any vehicle of that age. Everything you mention is fixable. Furthermore.. you bought a used car, out of warranty, with 100,000 miles on it after only four years of use. ...

Re: Guages zeroing and display going out while driving

Yikes. Don't drive it.. that's for sure. Is your Freestyle a 2005 year model? If memory serves, some of the early builds in that year model had bad instrument clusters that would short-out (or something like that) from defective solder joints, which would in turn cause a whole myriad of problems see...

Re: Throttle body Part number?

There is an extended warranty covering the TB on this very issue from Ford Motor. If your Freestyle has less than 150k miles, and has been in service less than 10 years, you're covered. See your friendly Ford dealer's service department.

Re: warm a/c while driving in the city

eureb, My experience with this issue was just over a year ago. My 2005 Freestyle SEL was no longer blowing cold air at city traffic speeds, and only weakly at highway speeds. From reading this thread, I became convinced that the problem was a worn scroll valve, so I ordered a new one by ordering the...

Re: The death of a Freebie...

I'd say your Freestyle had a very hard life. Did you ever do any scheduled service items? Like the 60k transmission service for instance?

Uh-huh.. that's what I thought.

The 10 year club

Yesterday, 05/05/15, was the ten-year anniversary of my purchase of a 2005 Ford Freestyle SEL. I still own it, and enjoy driving it almost every day. Easily the best vehicle I've ever owned. Checked the odometer this morning.. fairly low mileage for it's age, only 71,834 miles on the clock (115,605k...

You certainly do a lot of long-distance driving. How long ago did you purchase your Freestyle? Sounds like it was some time ago.

Re: Correct Oil Change Information

Also.. make sure you get a synthetic blend 5w20, as is recommended by Ford. If you have a Walmart nearby, they usually carry a good variety of motor oils and filters, including the Ford Motorcraft brand of both. I believe the filter for the '08 X is the Motorcraft FL400S.

Re: A/c charge (134a) low pressure refrigerant port question

My '05 (w/rear air) needed it's first 134a refill last May. Briefly considered doing it myself, before simply taking it to a local shop that I trust. I highly recommend that you do the same. The capacity w/rear air is 2 lbs 6 oz, and they discovered that I was down to a small fraction of that. They ...

Re: warm a/c while driving in the city

Well.. using the parts kit from Tech Choice, I replaced the control valve, it's spring, and the funny shaped turquoise gasket. But I couldn't get the old plastic screen out. In fact, I accidently pushed the old one about an eighth of an inch inwards, where it remained. My question is.. does that mat...

Re: warm a/c while driving in the city

I'm doing the control valve replacement with the parts from Tech Choice parts in Midlothian, TX. When the shop was performing the Evacuation of the system for me, the tech told me that there had only been 4 oz. in the system to evacuate. (Extremely low level) This was in a Freestyle with rear a/c, s...

Re: warm a/c while driving in the city

freeforever,

Hard to say without a photo of it. You might want to double-check with your dealer to make sure it's the correct part. Does it at least have an o-ring on it?

How much was it, btw?

"well, we hope for a quiet 2014 on here with these trannies.....2013 was CLEARLY the "Year of the Helicopters".....chopping noise heard at every corner, makes you want to faint !!!"

That's total nonsense. You're really not doing anyone any favors by spreading around such misinformation.
