Re: Added a Ford DVD to my Freestyle
Back when I did this, I went to the dealership and they were able to provide me with the whole cable that goes from the DVD player to the head unit through the A-pillar. It was about $50, but it was well worth it.

Re: tranny slipping....
Would love to hear the result as this seems to be a very common failure mode.

Re: Brake job Write-up and pictures
I just replaced the rear brakes and rotors on my 2006 Freestyle..my first rear brake job. It was a real pain compressing those pistons back using the cube tool. I found it helpful to compress the piston--just a mm or so-- before turning and compressing by hand. It took a heck of a lot of axial force...

Anyone experience knee pain on long trips?
My wife and I both experience an ache in the right knee while driving in our 2006 Freestyle SEL for more than 2 hours. It's strange that we both experience this issue, and I'm wondering if anyone has the same problem. I think it has something to do with the height of the gas pedal, the seat design, ...

Re: Snow Tires
We put a set of Firestone Winterforce on our FWD Freestyle last winter. What a difference it made! It's comparable to playing football in cleats vs basketball shoes, and makes the FWD feel like we're driving a 4WD.

Re: Added a Ford DVD to my Freestyle
If you really want make you connection hidden, you can tap into the wiring that goes from the DVD player to the back of the stereo head unit, and put any input type you want on that input. I put a female standard headphone jack on ours. This way, all I have to do is use a male to male headphone jack...

Re: Yokahama Tires
We have about 10k on ours, and we love them. They seem smoother than the stock Conti's, and handle much better in rain.

Re: Roof Rack Demise: Hey - Where's my crossbar??
I have the Thule version, and I've seen the Yakima version as well. Truly, I think the Yakima version is a bit of a cleaner connection to the factory rack.

Re: Added a Ford DVD to my Freestyle
Thanks to ScotSho's guidance, I installed a factory unit in also. I'll probably tap into the audio L/R lines to install an Ipod connection for the head unit Aux input as well. Lots of work, but it's worth it. Thanks Scotsho for blazing the trail. http://i310.photobucket.com/albums/kk429/dmont-2008/I...

Bearose,
I just finished installing mine. I do have an extra connector with flying leads if you need it.

Re: Adding a factory DVD
I installed an OEM DVD system, but ran into a problem. However, I do have some info on the subject. If your Freestyle didn't come with a DVD player, it will not have the proper wiring up there. I purchased an OEM wiring harness from local Ford service dept. This harness resides above the headliner a...

Wiring Diagram Book
My wife and I just bought a DVD system on Ebay and are going to tackle this same project! A couple quick questions: Where did you buy the Wiring Diagram Book? Did you purchase it at the Ford dealership? There doesn't seem to be a Haynes Manual out yet for the Freestyle. Also, did you remove the whol...

Great Job!
Wow! Awesome Job! We want to do the same exact thing to ours. Did you have to drop the whole roofliner or did you just cut a hole and snake wires through the pillar?
