Re: Winter Tire recomendations

as long as you have name brand snow tires, you will be in good shape.

The difference between one brand and another is so minimal is real life driving.

What I would recommend is studding the tires if allowed in your area.

Re: Question: How do you remove the 3rd row bench?

Keep in mind that removing the third seat, which is right over the rear wheels, will cause the car, which is already front-heavy, to be even more front heavy. Ever since front-drive cars became common about 30 years ago, this has been an issue. With rear-drive cars, at least part of the drivetrain ...

Re: Jay and Magic.....Re: Super vs. Regular

jay is saying " You will see a 5hp gain ." (using higher octane gas in the Freestyle) Jay, how does that happen without a knock sensor installed? Our Freestyle 3.0L Duratec does not have one. I found out the other day that Ford was putting knock sensors on 4.6L V8 engines up until about the '99 mod...

Re: Gas Cap - COME ONE FORD

OK - My wife and I love our new 07 Freestyle Limited. Great car/wagon/cross over/SUV - what ever it's classified as! My only complaint is the gas cap. My civic has a nice holder for the gas cap so it will not "rub" on the body when you fill up. We traded in our Ford Escape for the Freestyle and one...

Re: Super vs. Regular

I asked my ford tech about that and your right...Wasting money and mileage using anything over 87 octane gas in the freestyle...Check and Keep clean filters, change oil as Ford said in the owner book...I'm getting 22-23mpg in town driving and over 28mpg on the highway...The AWD works great and I no...

Re: Super vs. Regular

The Freestyle does not have a knock sensor . Therefore, it cannot adjust to get slightly better MPG with premium fuel. Can't do it. The only way you can get better MPG using one gas over another brand is if one has a lower ethanol percentage mixed into the gasoline. I use 10% ethanol, so I lose 2% ...

Re: Super vs. Regular

the truth is, Ford has some of the most advanced engine management computers in the industry. On most cars, premium is a waste, but with Fords, they will adjust somewhat to the delayed ignition point of higher octane fuel. Not to the same degree as having an aftermarket tuner (like a Superchips), bu...

Re: A/C stinch

you already need to purge your AC when you use it. Don't leave it on when you turn off the car. Turn it off just before you hit your destination and let plain air go through the vents. This will help with residual moisture. Also ensure that you NEVER, EVER have the climate control set to MAX or OFF ...

Re: Orange spots=Rail dust?

yes its rail dust. When I used to take heavy commuter rail, all the cars in the parking lots had the rail dust from the adjacent rail track activity. Usually, cars are shipped in enclosed cars, but there is a chance that when the car was sitting in the transfer lot at the factory some dust settled o...

Re: How about Leather seats surfaces?

any OTC leather cleaner/conditioner will work. save your money as you do not need Lexol. Lexol is needed for King Ranch seats because they are formally tanned leather that do require oil restoration. Our leather seats are like most leather on the market now... cheap chinese leather that is not tanne...
