traction control light has come on once or twice. i only have 42,000 miles on it. what u think

Mine is a FWD so I have no experience with this issue. What I sent is out of the service manual.

Someone else should be able to assist with more detail on the repair. I know the switch out of the DEM (more than likely what the issue is) or the Active clutch looks like a 2 hour or less job.

WOW. I think your dealer is hosing you. I would go to an independant shop and get a quote. The error is the DEM, DEM clutch or solenoid on the AWD system. It sits under the car in front of the differential.

Someone just bought a used one for under $100.00 in a post a few days ago.

Amazing how dishonest dealers are getting. It's a shame. I can send you the service manual pages for you to take to another place if you would like.

Just let me know soon. I am off to Cub Camp next week.

I feel for you. What did they say the issue was for that cost? If it's the "rear differential", it would be covered under your 5/60 Powertrain warranty. If it's the tranny, same thing, 5/60 warranty (which that code is not related to the tranny)

Please post your thoughts. If we find the dealer has been dishonest, call Fords customer line and Complain!

As you can see the code means the DEM is not sending a signal to the computer. I think it means a bad DEM or active Coupling. Neither are a big job to fix. Parts may be pricey, but used are available. I could be wrong. Anyway, best of luck.
