I will try to explain the issue I am having to the best of my ability. I have a 2005 Freestyle AWD with 56,000 miles.

When the outside temps go above 82°, and I have the AC on the engine will start to surge.
A weird thing is that it gets worse when I am backing up, and then when I put it back in drive it surges (or what feels to me as misfires) under acceleration.

It will throw a code once in a while, but it goes away after a few hours so I never had time to get it scanned.

Has anyone else had this problem? Yes I have changed the plugs, the wires seem fine. I had tried a fuel additive which seemed to help a bit, but I dont want to keep adding stuff every time I get fuel.

The weird thing is why is it worse when put in reverse?

Thanks for any and all help!
Jim

Have you cleaned the throttle body?

Yes the TB and the MAF were cleaned (not by me). I do think that I will remove the TB and really give it a proper cleaning. Now if that does not solve anything...........

Please keep posting ideas!!! One of them is bound to work!!
